He desperately wants to go, but despite checking her website daily for the past few months for the tour to be announced, he stopped doing so a few weeks ago and noticed on Chrstmas Eve that a few UK dates were announced earlier this month for next year.

I told him wasn't looking until today and of course there are hardly any left. I can't justify spending more than £250, and that's ridiculous as it is - he knows it will be his main birthday present (July birthday and the dates are in Septmeber). I have found tickets for £195 (price for 2) on a Sunday night about an hour's drive from us, meaning he won't be in bed much before 1am I suppose. There are tickets for the Saturday but they're £50 more and restricted view. The other UK dates are no good to us for other reasons.

He woukld have to up by 7am for school, and his teacher has apparently commented on him looking tired in the past (not to me) as, despite going to bed at a reasonable time he stays awake reading, which I can't do much about.

AIBU to book the tickets -assuming they're still there.

“How do you make children sleep?”

I don’t think you make children sleep, but you can certainly remove the book at the lamp at a suitable time, and bore them into submission.

Glad you booked them!

Seriously, I feel sad for some kids. He could have a bad night's sleep for any reason. Being tired for one day isn't a reason to not do something. Unless that specific day of school is going to ruin his education (no) then there really is no need to be so rigid and "no its a school night". Would be different if he had an exam the next day though.

It's just one day. I would.

Miss school and make a day of it he's 9 for God's sake, life's too short

I've not gone to sleep before about 11 since I was 8ish I'm just a night owl. He might he the same. Having lie still in bed for hours is horrible at least he's only reading

Glad you’ve booked them. I will send mine into school no matter how tired and I will tell the teacher why. It’s not every week and I always support the school so no one will bat an eyelid.

This summer in the space of 2 weeks Dd went to 4 big concerts ( not ideal, but that was when they were all on) she had the best 2 weeks of her life! Yes she was knackered the next day but she’d definitley say it was worth it!
