To feel so miserable because of trapped wind?

It’s such a tiny problem in the grand scheme of things, but I get it quite often and it’s just horrible! I think I’ve overeaten a bit earlier and now I want to pop myself with a pin, I’m so uncomfortable.

Any miracle cures?

Have a look at your trigger foods. High FODMAP food can cause trapped wind. Onions in particularly are a nightmare for me.
But if I do have it, massage round the belly button pushing into your left side helps. And lots of movement etc. Yes to peppermint tea and warm bath etc

Where are you sore? I (strangely) feel it as a pain in my left shoulder! Relieved by rotating shoulder vigorously until I burpConfused works for me...

Oh god it’s the WORST. Lie on your left side in bed. It could be bollocks but I’m sure I read somewhere that it helps with digestion etc and I definitely notice a difference. I second bicycle legs on your back, also DP’s suggestion is always doing downward dog.

Shoulder pain is linked to gallstones - no idea how - but it is

They also showed me how to massage my abdomen in a figure of 8 which was very effective.

Thanks everyone. Lots of tips for me here. The pain was sort of just behind my belly button. I ended up having to get up in the night to rush to the loo so I guess I had an upset stomach that was causing it, but I’ll buy some peppermint oil for future windy misery.

GreenTulips I really don’t think it is gallstones and I don’t eat much fatty food but will get checked out if it persists, ta.

Lying on my left side helps me

Another vote for anything peppermint, I drink a few cups everyday but don't eat much carbs or sugar either so that helps! It was a godsend after my c-section, I came home bent over and barely walking, took some capsules, went to sleep, woke up a new woman walking round the house and getting stuff done. Magic stuff!

Blubbergalore · 27/12/2018 21:04

Get down on all fours, lower your head towards the floor and rest on your lower arms whilst sticking your rear end up. That should immediately ease the discomfort. Stay still or rock to and fro slightly and you should actually feel the trapped wind starting to move towards its natural exit! It works every time for me sometimes quite spectacularly. Best done in private!

DH has suffered awfully with this for decades. The hospital scanned him and gave him antibiotics about 5 years ago. Apparently the pain was caused by infection the loops of his intestines or something. He was then pain-free for ages, but this last year its all come back again. He wakes at 4.30am with pain and doesn't come back to bed.

Come January he is going to try low carbing (as per BIWI's bootcamp threads on here).

mintec capsules or colpermin they are both peppermint oil capsules they are coated - do not lie down for half an hour after taking them -it is best to take them at least half an hour before meals or on an empty stomach - talk to chemist first - do you have other symptoms? go see gp if you have had this a long time op?
