My DH laughs when I get hurt

Think "You've Been Framed" kind of thing. Yesterday one of our dogs caught my lip with his claw, enough to cause a mark and my DH started laughing. I was mad (with him, not the dog) and told him to f@ck off, which made him laugh even more! This is his usual reaction when I hurt myself, he finds it funny. If he ever gets hurt I sympathise and try to help. Once he was "pretending" to push me into a ditch and I was pushing back so hard that when he let go I fell over and bruised my arm so badly I thought I'd broken it. He thought this was hilarious and when I told my DS (20) about it he said that he would have found it funny as well! AIBU that I feel upset and uncared for?

YANBU. IT would be one thing if he laughed not realising you were actually hurt and then apologised but sounds like he's horrible about it.

I have an unfortunate tendency to laugh when people injure themselves. I don't find it at all funny but appear to have some kind of weird laugh reflex. It is mortifying.

Could his reaction be similar or do you think he finds it genuinely funny?

TenForward82 · 26/12/2018 15:12

Personally I think people who laugh at someone injuring themselves extremely unintelligent.

TenForward82 · 26/12/2018 15:14

Before anyone gets annoyed with me - sorry, it's just a reflex.

I don’t know if I could handle it from a partner but I do have a friend who does this. It’s awful - she really finds it funny if people hurt themselves or embarrass themselves.

I love basically everything else about her though so can only assume it’s a weird quirk and I just live with it.

When someone is hurt surely a witness would naturally show concern especially if it’s someone you care about.
My DH would be concerned. My children would be concerned. It’s me batting them away with a ‘I’m fine really’ or ‘God I’m a tit’.
I don’t think you’re a good match ting Op.

I never understand people laughing at someone else getting hurt, I don’t get why someone else’s pain would be funny? I also never watched those you’ve been framed type shows I thought they were bloody weird!
Dh gets worried and concerned if I hurt myself and I’m the same with him. We aren’t a pair of wimps we just care about each other.
OP your dh seems to have had an empathy bypass Sad

My OH is sympathetic-ish usually although he says 'clumsy oaf'. I remember one time I told him I'd had a painful fall down the stairs earlier that day and he said 'that must have been hilarious, I wish I'd been there'. I'm careful what I tell him now.
