To not want to make pancakes now

moanymoaner · 25/12/2018 17:57

Dd almost 10 is pancake obsessed and wants to make them now for supper! I'm knackered and full! Have been up since 5.30 and just can not be bothered to make them but she's really highly strung so if I don't she will have the biggest strop! 😩 Aibu to hide so I can dodge making them and her dad do it!

🙄🙄

give her instructions on how to make pancakes herself.
great age to start and pancakes are great to start cooking.

lastqueenofscotland · 25/12/2018 18:00

Do you ever say she can’t have anything? Just say no

KindergartenKop · 25/12/2018 18:00

Yeah, you could sit in the kitchen and supervise. You're not the pancake fairy.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 25/12/2018 18:01

YANBU. Don't make them. Let her strop if she wants to. But I'm sure you have plenty of other food available so she can have that instead.

DramaInPyjamas · 25/12/2018 18:01

Can’t you just say no, not tonight. ?

WhatsUpHun · 25/12/2018 18:02

do you always give in to avoid a strop?

BanginChoons · 25/12/2018 18:04

I'd be saying nope, not tonight.

bullyingadvice2017 · 25/12/2018 18:09

I'd be saying no to any request if it was likely to result in a bratty strop to be honest. Unless you want to be back on here asking for advice on a 15 year old who rules the roost!

moanymoaner · 25/12/2018 18:09

What's up hun
Yea I do at the moment - she's having a lot of them, I just can't do it today. Of course I say no to her sometimes , she isn't verruca salt , I just can't do meltdowns today!

Also this was a little bit lighthearted post....

Just say no. My 4 year old would understand that.

moanymoaner · 25/12/2018 18:11

@redsummershoes yes I am encouraging this too! We have just had a baking set for Xmas so she can start cooking herself!

I’d like a pancake please - with lemon and sugar - thank you!

FiveNightsAtMummys · 25/12/2018 19:20

Buy some frozen aunt Bessie ones for moments like these I think they even go in the microwave if I remember right

Thequaffle · 25/12/2018 19:22

Do me one too please!

MargotMoon · 25/12/2018 19:23

DD10 is also pancake obsessed. I've taught her how to make them, although she does need help with getting the batter right otherwise it's lumpy. It's the amount of mess that she creates that's the problem though, still training her to clean and tidy up after making them...

I'd say no, not on Xmas day though.

SocksRock · 25/12/2018 19:26

Deffo teach her. My 11yo loves pancakes for breakfast so I taught her. She's starting to be very picky with food and I'm finding she eats every pick of something she's cooked herself, so we are having lots of lessons!

Wonkysack · 25/12/2018 19:33

Tell her to fuck off you've done enough today and to fucking play with the fucking toys and leave you alone because you've been up early after fuck all sleep and after that she should be fucking grateful you're awake let alone be thinking of pancakes which she's got fuck all chance of getting the greedy fucker projecting cos I'm knackered

MulticolourMophead · 25/12/2018 19:35

I might make some for breakfast. They cook well in s sandwich toaster.

moanymoaner · 25/12/2018 19:43

She's fallen asleep so no pancakes here - however DS 3 is currently kicking off because he wants to play monopoly 🙄 I'm off to bed!!

@moanymoaner, it's not easy but you need to try not to give in to avoid a strop (I have to say I wish I was better at it myself!! Life is so much easier when you do)

littlemeitslyn · 26/12/2018 11:24

Wonkysack Nasty

70sbaubles · 26/12/2018 12:35
