To think Rosemary potatoes don’t go with Christmas dinner?

DH is cooking and won’t allow anyone to help him beyond peeling potatoes etc ( the grunt work). He has insisted on smothering the roast potatoes with Rosemary. I asked him not to and he insisted. He is now stropping because I’ve asked him to make some more without any Rosemary in.

My family are very fussy eaters who like everything plain which DH knows already. I don’t particularly like Rosemary either and our small kids will freak out at the “yukky bits”. So AIBU to think he was being a plonker to do it in the first place?

3 hours late!

That’s a bigger problem than what flavour your potatoes are Xmas Shock

Well it seems like cauli cheese is popular with Christmas lunch but I still don't get it.

mamaslave18 four and a half hours! I would be gnawing on my knuckles by then. Still, lots of left over roasties is a bonus.

HundredMilesAnHour I don't blame you, Auntie Bessie's frozen roast potatoes and Bistro gravy granules are an abomination - hope you show them how it's really done next year.

Rosemary smells absolutely fantastic..... in shampoo. It should never be put anywhere near potatoes unless you want them to smell and taste like vosene with nasty hard bits on them.

Our potatoes are plain, but the turkey is drenched in rosemary and thyme.

Triglesoffy · 25/12/2018 20:54

Who is Rosemary? Did she write a cook book?

Crazyfrog007 · 25/12/2018 22:01

We had rosemary AND thyme on ours. Bloody lovely!!

YABU and a bit rude. I'd be stropping and hurt too if I were your husband. Also be encouraging kids to eat proper food rather than insisting on making everything plain and boring

We did Aunt Besssies this year.... Blush Admittedly as it was just the 4 of us and we didnt want anyone to be in the kitchen long so we could focus on the kids together. Roast potatoes def arent the same but are nice in their own way, i do love the yorkshire puddings though!

(But may explain why the thought of proper Rosemary potatoes sounds good!)
