to be having a lovely Christmas at my in-laws?

Anyone else managing to have a lovely day with the MIL? Or is it just me that quite likes leaving the dramas of my own dysfunctional family for the calm, cosy generosity of the in laws? Xmas dinner is beginning to smell lovely and FIL is just about to liberate the bubbles. Kids are happily playing with their toys. I’m not trying to be smug but I can’t quite believe how other people do Christmas!

First Christmas without my lovely MIL who was also my best friend. Very different day, missing her & we're all having a quiet one

You don't sound smug at all. Ignore the naysayers.

My fil spends every Christmas with us and he's fab. Grin

In fact, he's coming to my sister's with us tomorrow too.

My PILs came to us like they do every year. DH did about 80% of the prep and cooking. MIL is very nice, and plays well with DD. PIL has dementia, he seems happy in our house and enjoys the DC. DS(1) in particular is very fond of him. It has been a very nice day.

That said I am.loaded with the cold and want everyone to fuck off now Grin

@Chapterandverse that sounds lovely - good for them!

My 89 year old MIL has been here all day with my DPs. She is lovely and kind and deaf as a post so has no clue what’s going on most of the time Smile

We had a lovely day with my in laws today. No drama and a lovely meal (made by us so maybe I am biased 😂)
