SIL came over with stomach bug on Xmas eve and wanted to see my DC

I got really annoyed earlier. My FIL dropped off his daughter (teenage SIL) at our house while he went shopping at local supermarket, no prior warning or invite.. Said he would be 20min. He was gone 1.5hrs.
The second he left SIL said she's not feeling well with stomach bug and wants to lay on my sofa. Ok. Thanks, coming over to my house on Xmas eve with a tummy bug to spread around.
My DD 4yo was in her room, SIL wanted my DD to come down and see her / play. I said no, I'd rather she keeps a distance since you are poorly and it's Xmas tomorrow.
SIL very moody, sulked the rest of the 1.5hrs, said nothing too me and complained to her father when he got back that I hadn't let her see her niece. I know she was upset but I feel I had good reason to keep DD away. Honestly I was really annoyed she had been dropped off at my house unwell. Very thoughtless? Or am I to blame / being unkind. Should I apologise ?

Why would you apologise when you've done nothing wrong?

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 24/12/2018 19:10

No you shouldn’t apologise, don’t know what people are thinking of, Xmas or not!

ethelfleda · 24/12/2018 19:14

YWNBU- that was incredibly thoughtless of them!!
Hope you and your family don’t get ill for Christmas Xmas Smile

KnightlyMyMan · 24/12/2018 19:17

I mean did she actually have a stomach bug? I’m pretty sure in 1.5 hours you’d have witnessed some side effects.

I ask this as one of my early twenties female friends constantly refers to feeling ill due to a ‘bit of a stomach thing’ but what she says that about everything including hangovers/ period cramps- I (a raging hypochondriac) now have to clarify with her exactly what she means!

Unless she said something red flagging like ‘I slept awfully - kept getting up to V/D’ or similar I wouldn’t worry

She seemed unwell / miserable but she wasn't sick while in my house.

FiL was in the wrong for dropping her round - if she was feeling sick why didn't she just stay on her own sofa?

She was probably hungover.
