I know, I know it's not even Christmas yet! But, what do people do for New Years? We usually go to family but really not keen on spending it with IL's this year. However it's just me, DH and baby. So not many options..
interested to know how others celebrate and look for tips x

Nothing, going to have a nice night in and avoid the crowds. Bliss!

Bubba1234 · 23/12/2018 21:30

A meal in the evening but will be home early, maybe a drink or two on the sofa then go out at midnight on the street for the fireworks il be asleep by one. Then head out the next night.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 23/12/2018 21:40

A couple of friends and their families, no pressure to stay until midnight but nice for a catch up

cliffdiver · 23/12/2018 21:47

Having a Mr Bean NYE party with DDs (4 and 7) - complete with Twiglets and newspaper hats.

DDs will go to bed at usual time (7pm), as will DH and I (9.30/10pm).

Doodlebug5 · 23/12/2018 21:49

Cheese fondue. Bottle of champagne. Us two.
Done

dementedma · 23/12/2018 21:51

Sweet FA. hate New Year (singular) and all the enforced jollity and belief that miraculously after midnight everything will be squeaky clean and perfect. will be in bed at usual time and will wake up to find.....nothing has changed. Surprise, surprise.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 23/12/2018 21:53

Food and drinks at a tapas restaurant with family. Looking forward to it although it will be a step down from last year where DH and I were in Reykjavik watching the awesome fireworks sneaky brag sorry!

MrsFoxPlus4 · 23/12/2018 21:53

I hate New Years, always have. I make a platter of picnic type food & my 6YO normally stays up till the bells. My DH goes out :)

itallhappensforareason · 23/12/2018 21:55

Stay at home. Watch the fireworks on the telly and go to bed 😂

PumpkinPie2016 · 23/12/2018 21:56

Nothing much. Sometimes the couple next door come round for a curry, drinks and Jools but I think they are away this year.

If it's just us we will probably watch a film and be in bed at the usual time.

For some reason, I have never enjoyed New Year, even as a teenager. No bad connections or anything, just never been my cup of tea.

DavetheCat2001 · 23/12/2018 21:56

Going for dinner (beef wellington) at my best mates/husbands.

They are childfree but very accommodating of us and our two DC's. Will get them off to bed and then drink, watch the fireworks on tv and then bed.

bumblebee39 · 23/12/2018 21:57

Pamper evening
Set goals for the new year and reflect on the last
Something to drink, something to eat, watch the fireworks on TV

Would love to go out but I'm pregnant with 2 DCs

AnnaMariaDreams · 23/12/2018 21:58

4 couples plus kids. We gather at someone’s house for a sleepover- family per room - blow up beds etc.
Kids have a film night. Adults have dinner and wine. We usually play games like Catan. This year it’s a Murder Mystery.

Davros · 23/12/2018 21:59

Going to local excellent Italian restaurant with some friends who live nearby. All walking distance

Lazypuppy · 23/12/2018 22:00

We've got friends coming round to us for the evening. Food, board games etc then bed just after midnight.

We always have anither big roast of new years day so never want to be hungover

StickyShoes · 23/12/2018 22:01

Night in with DH and some wine.

Fishcakey · 23/12/2018 22:02

Same as @StickyShoes. Teen DS May show his face for the bells.

ThePinkOcelot · 23/12/2018 22:07

Nothing. I don’t like new year. Always feel a bit down in the dumps really. Probably won’t even stay up until midnight.

TheWeatherGirl1 · 23/12/2018 22:07

Working

PenguinPandas · 23/12/2018 22:07

Just in our thatched cottage with some champagne and fizzy apple juice for kids then down to Longleat on 1st for safari, fireworks, Festival of Light etc.

Athena51 · 23/12/2018 22:15

My DP isn't with me until just after Christmas as he's spending time with his 92 year old mum so New Year is our Christmas and I love it. I do the full Christmas dinner, we drink champagne and spend the day and evening just the two of us. New Year's day is bacon sarnies and the concert from Vienna Xmas Smile

LDRs can be frustrating but we make the most of the time we have.

nicoala1 · 23/12/2018 22:18

Forced jollity is shit. Next day is the same as the day before. That's all thank you.

letsdolunch321 · 23/12/2018 22:19

Not a massive fan of New Year.

RandomUsernameHere · 23/12/2018 22:22

Having our neighbours (3 other couples) round for dinner and drinks. Nice and easy as everyone can walk/stumble/crawl home at the end of the night Grin

SlowNorris · 23/12/2018 22:22

The roof at the pub is slate I think.
