So in my job I work in a little room central to the building, so no windows, and on some days entirely alone for hours. It's a repetitive job and can get a bit dull and lonely, so for the last year I've brought in a speaker and my phone and played music from Spotify. I set it up to play a huge playlist / Spotify radio, and I don't need to go back to it, if I'm desperate to skip a track I can do so from my watch. Anyway, technically this is forbidden, but the boss hadn't given a shit the entire year - she knows it's playing from a phone, she's asked me to message people and seen me walk over to the corner to grab my phone to do so for her. She regularly comes in and comments on the choice of music myself or a colleague has put on that day, so the overall impression I've been given is that she knows it's a bend of the no phones rules, but sees that we're only using them to provide music, not abusing the privilege, and has decided to let it slide.
Yet today I go into the room, two days before Christmas, and the speaker is gone. No explanation, no sign of it or the various AUX cables hanging out the back of it. Gone.
AIBU to think that at this time of year, when uniform policy gets relaxed to allow for some festive cheer, staff are stressed out and just wishing they were at home, that removing my music (on a day I'm working in this room along for 6 hours straight) is a totally dick move?!
