Its too late to put up the whole lot, as the effort it will take isnt worth ut for them being up such a short while. so will do a few (for the kids to enjoy). If it were just me I'd not bother tho.
Anyone else not got theirs up yet?

We always decorate on Christmas eve - originally after children had gone to bed. This was what my parents did and it was always magical as a kid getting up on Christmas morning to a decorated house. I actually brought the tree in today, but won't decorate it until tomorrow. Decorations stay up until 12th night.

ErictheGuineaPig · 23/12/2018 17:09

Decorating it overnight so they wake up to it sounds a lovely idea!

Lunaballoon · 23/12/2018 17:19

We did ours yesterday. We usually leave it till the last weekend before Christmas.

The tree (which we got for half price) and Xmas flowers will be still fresh and looking their best on the big day.

Christmas is also concentrated into a special few days rather than dragging on for weeks. Xmas Smile

I agree doing it overnight is a lovely idea (for any Noel Streatfield fans, the parents do this in the Gemma books) (have I spelt that ^ right???).

We usually have a (real) tree that we put up mid-December, but can't have one this year because we have an atrociously behaved puppy who destroys everything. This broke my heart, because I love a tree.

We are hosting this year, so I thought it was important the house looked festive, so we've stuck the tree baubles on the ceiling. I think it looks ok, but I'm sad about the lack of tree. There is also quite a lot of plummeting. I need to be less tight with the white-tac.

I have literally just sat down with a brew after doing ours. The adult DC are due home for Christmas is a couple of hours so I wanted it done before they got here.

Certainly not too late. It's proper! Traditionally they were put up on Christmas Eve and taken down on the 6th of January. We put ours up on the 21st which is early really

WardrobeInCrisis · 23/12/2018 18:37

Our tree is coming in tonight and will be decorated either very late tonight, or tomorrow.

As other posters have said, it's traditional!!!

Junkmail · 23/12/2018 18:44

I don’t bother with decorations because I don’t see the point and I loathe clutter 😂

Jennywren2978 · 23/12/2018 18:49

I have only just got the decs out of the attic. My 18 yr old and 8 yr old are decorating while i cook dinner. I often leave it until 23rd/24th and it's the norm in my house.
My friends do call me scrooge though because of it wasn't for my kids I'd probably not bother at all.

hazell42 · 23/12/2018 18:50

We always put ours up 4pm Christmas eve. Plenty of time yet

FeatherStrong · 24/12/2018 00:49
