Thyroid issue or something else?

hiya,
I’m just wondering if anyone who suffers with hypothyroidism misses periods? I’ve missed two, and I’m worrying if it’s the effects of the thyroid issue, or if there’s something else going on.
I’ve spoke to a friend and she instantly said I’m pregnant. But I’ve done multiple tests and have all come out negative, if I was pregnant it should be showing up on tests by now surely?
I just don’t know what to think!
Could being pregnant still be a possibility? Or am I over thinking!
Any information would be extremely helpful!x

Could well be thyroid, yes - but as always, take it to your GP, because they're better at diagnosing than rando's on the Internet. Who'd have thought all those years of training would be any use?

www.womenshealth.gov/a-z-topics/thyroid-disease

"in women, thyroid diseases can cause:

  • Problems with your menstrual period. Your thyroid helps control your menstrual cycle. Too much or too little thyroid hormone can make your periods very light, heavy, or irregular. Thyroid disease also can cause your periods to stop for several months or longer, a condition called amenorrhea. If your body's immune system causes thyroid disease, other glands, including your ovaries, may be involved. This can lead to early menopause (before age 40)."

The same autoimmune issue that causes hypothyroid can also cause early menopause. This happened to me in the other order - definitely worth getting checked out. I also have regular screenings for coeliac and type 1 diabetes for the same reason.
