Is it wrong to use a neighbours bin?

I have two full black bags and no space in my bin, desperately could do with getting rid of them.
The house opposite me is empty, and has been for a long time. I am very tempted to sling my bags in there Blush
the bin gets emptied Monday and I would put it out and take it back in but I'm worried one of the neighbours would see me and shout at me for it🤷‍♀️

Bit naughty. But if it's the night before bin day, and the neighbour's bin is half empty, I can't see any harm in it.

BudgieBalls · 23/12/2018 00:42

I doubt the bin men will take it as they know the house is empty. Happened to me when I'd just moved into a new place.

santasharkdododo · 23/12/2018 00:42

The bin is completely empty, the house has been sat empty for a good 2 months.
Collection for the bins is on Monday, so tomorrow

Oh if it's an empty house then no. I wouldn't.

Cornettoninja · 23/12/2018 00:47

I’ve done it when a next door neighbours house was empty. The bin men don’t know if someone’s been in clear the house etc.

Make sure you put it back and it’s not harming anyone.

DramaAlpaca · 23/12/2018 00:48

Just do it. I would.

Mudmonster · 23/12/2018 00:49

My neighbours moved out in August and the house was empty for 6 months. Dh and I had a clear out of the garage and used the bin next door to dispose of the junk, the bin was always emptied. I also put crap that the previous occupant left dumped in the garden in there too.

Drogosnextwife · 23/12/2018 00:50

Are you living in my house OP? I also have 2 extra bags and our bins get emptied Monday lol. There is also a house across the road from me empty but I would defo get caught, I'm too scared to do it and never even thought of it till now. Maybe I'll try and persuade so to do it 😂

crazyhairbear · 23/12/2018 00:50

Just put them in and put their bin out and if they don't empty it just put the black bags back into your own bin once it's empty. Worth a shot

santasharkdododo · 23/12/2018 00:52

Oh yes will certainly put it out for collection later on today and will take it back in, just didn't know if anybody would ambush their neighbour for doing similar, I'm scared of that as I'm quite new here myself!
It's the only time I've thought of doing it, we had quite a big clear out and have sent as much to charity or freebie sites as I possibly could. Even giving away a spare wedding dress just so it didn't go in the bin as I knew we didn't have the space.. Sorry rambling!

Shock you could be my other half @Drogosnextwife Grin that's so weird!
My other half would have no shame in doing it as he would put the bin out (wouldn't forget or anything) but he isn't awake to go and do it!! I'm too scared to do it in the day and I'm wide awake staring at the bags taking up space! If I had a shed I'd bung them in there as I need the space back in the kitchen for Tuesday

Eh? What madness is this? Why on earth would anyone think there could possibly be a problem with putting some rubbish in an empty bin?

Leeds2 · 23/12/2018 01:17

It wouldn't bother me in the slightest! If you have to put the bin out, say to the end of the path or on the pavement, the binmen will see it and take it.
Fyi, my bins are also collected on a Monday and I have been told by the binmen that they hope to collect at 3am/4am this week, so that they have an early finish. May be the same in your area.

safariboot · 23/12/2018 02:22

Tomorrow's Christmas Eve, it's quite possible the bin doesn't get emptied. Even at any time of year, the binmen round ours sometimes fail to collect our rubbish for whatever reason.

If I was your neighbour I would be cheesed off, because for all I know you're putting stuff in there that you shouldn't (ie recyclables) and if the binmen notice I'll be the one blamed.

safariboot · 23/12/2018 02:23

Oops, didn't notice you said it's an empty house.

SD1978 · 23/12/2018 02:33

I would. You're not actually inconveniencing anyone. There is no one to ask. If it doesn't get picked up for some reason, you can take them back. I doubt the bin man keeps an eye of who's house is empty. They'll assume someone is living there now.

PickledChutney · 23/12/2018 02:38

Do it OP!!!
