Just that really how much do you pay your cleaner per hour, what do they do and how often do you have them in Grin

£11 ph, 2 hours every week.

She cleans the kitchen and both bathrooms, wipes down living room and bedroom surfaces, hoovers and mops. She irons - but we tend to have fewer than 10 items that need ironing.

Once a month, she cleans the oven, fridge, inside of windows and floor to ceiling mirrors in bedroom. One of these a week in the month, if that makes sense.

Cauliflowersqueeze · 22/12/2018 16:04

£7.50/hr?????
Shock

Buggeroffbingbunny · 22/12/2018 18:29

Would you go into Tesco and offer to pay more for something just because it is cheap?

I don’t employ her- she is self employed, I pay for her services, which she sets the price for and sends the bill. Totally up to her to set her rates and I would pay more if she increased it.

Cauliflowersqueeze · 22/12/2018 18:40

No I wouldn’t pay Tesco’s more for something. But their employees are paid a fair wage. Maybe your cleaner is too embarrassed or scared of being dismissed if she requests a pay rise.

I wouldn’t be comfortable paying someone £7.50 for an hour’s work cleaning in this country.

Andro · 22/12/2018 18:57

£25/hour - she's brilliant, insured to the hilt and earns every penny (in my opinion) - usually 4 hours per week, with special arrangements made as needed. My house sparkles!

crazytiredboth · 22/12/2018 19:01

£15 ph, 4.5 hour chunk on a Friday to get things nice for weekend. I provide all cleaning products but I know some prefer to use their own.

SpeedofaSloth · 22/12/2018 19:04

£12 per hour, 3 hours a fortnight.

DragonMamma · 22/12/2018 19:06

£11 p/hr (it would be £12.50 if you want her to provide the cleaning materials). 2hrs a week on a Friday.

She’s lovely - She’s even been stashing Christmas presents that arrive for me whilst she’s here, in my wardrobe so the DC don’t see them arriving.

oblada · 22/12/2018 19:18

12phr. 2.5 hours each week.
I have paid anything from 8 pounds an hour to 15 pounds per hour over the years. For 2 to 4 hours of cleaning as a regular arrangement.
7.5 is bonkers.
So is 25 (per hour) tbh...
I'm in the NW

AdoreTheBeach · 22/12/2018 19:21

£12 - to an agency for 6 hours of cleaning. But that often consists of 3 people coming together for 2 hours.

SilverySurfer · 22/12/2018 19:21

I pay double what Buggeroffbingbunny pays, ie £13 an hour and she comes for one hour weekly. I can't believe you haven't increased it yourself, £7.50 an hour is incredibly mean.

Lifeofsmiley · 22/12/2018 19:25

Surely double £7.50 ph is £15 not £13!

Buggeroffbingbunny · 22/12/2018 20:43

I’m not mean- she is not my staff. I don’t employ her, or think of her as staff. She runs a business of which she sets the price and I choose to use the service. I assume she charges all her clients the same.

She is certainly confident enough to say if she wanted paying more and would tell me of a price increase.

80sMum · 22/12/2018 20:46

I don't have a cleaner but my mum does. She uses a cleaning company and pays £18 per hour for 2 hours, once a fortnight.

Kariana · 22/12/2018 20:50

£12.50 per hour, 2 hours per week.

Whataboutbobbo · 22/12/2018 21:26

£20 per hour

MyDcAreMarvel · 22/12/2018 21:31

£5 an hour two hours a week, she is 14.

CaveMum · 22/12/2018 21:31

£8.50 to the cleaner for 3 hours a week plus £2 per hour to the agency we employ her through.

We provide all cleaning products and she often recommends things for us to get.

MRex · 23/12/2018 01:08

@Buggeroffbingbunny - you are taking advantage of someone who is economically vulnerable. You absolutely should offer to increase it to £10/hour minimum.

Didsomeonesaybunny · 23/12/2018 01:10

£20 p/h - 6 hours

Didsomeonesaybunny · 23/12/2018 01:15

Sorry - pressed send too quickly. Twice a week. She does basic cleaning: hoovering, polishing and mopping but also does additional tasks such as inside windows, cooker, fridge/freezer, outside and inside of kitchen cupboards etc. She doesn’t do these tasks every week more like each quarter.

She also changes our sheets weekly.

PomBearWithoutHerOFRS · 23/12/2018 02:16

My Mam pays £11 an hour, they come for an hour one week and two hours the next. There are actually two of them, for half an hour/ an hour, but charge by the hour by time if that makes sense.

DizzyBeeme · 23/12/2018 03:07

I pay £15 per hour for 3 hours every week. She wishes around and cleans my house till it sparkles from top to.bottom. she washes up, steams all the floors, puts away all clothes amd even cleans kids toys from garden in the summer. She's my little angel !!

daffodilbrain · 23/12/2018 03:15

£13/hr 3xhrs a week uses all her own cleaning stuff (method)
