Coldshoulders · 21/12/2018 22:41

So all my life I been a slim person, ate what I like when I like never worried about my weight, never gained weight was never an issue until recently! Started gaining weight which looks to me like it's all lower stomach! Some days I actually look like I'm with child (not pregnant btw). So the last few months I feel as if I have piled loads of weight on my stomach area. Tried to eat more healthy, tried doing exercise still feel like I'm a balloon. Any tips or help for loosing my pouch? School run takes 2 hours a day I would say I'm active and don't eat too much junk so God noes but nothing will shift this weight and it's getting me down x

No secrets, no alcohol, daily planks run 5k twice a week. Plant based diet.-sorry

lau888 · 22/12/2018 11:59

I'm afraid there's no quick fix. Either cut down on your intake or do significantly more exercise. However, I would point out that you don't need to be a particular weight to be healthy and happy. Time changes everyone. x

NutElla5x · 22/12/2018 11:59

You ABU for misspelling the word 'lose'.Lose the extra 'o' please,it's a lot easier than losing belly fat thankfully......or unfortunately whichever way you look at it.

Coldshoulders · 22/12/2018 12:23

@NutEllax5 thankyou so much for your spelling information I found it ever so helpful and i appreciate it. Fuck sake can u post anything on here without someone going on about spelling or grammar. Back on topic thanks for the comments going to look into starting a new diet after Xmas starting yoga and maybe do some more exercises. I am 27 btw. I'm going to have to make dedicated changes this year now to see any results. Thanks everyone xx

with all the internal organs we have down there, we are better to have some protection for them!

Surely muscle is better protection than fat?

NutElla5x · 22/12/2018 12:48

Alright Coldshoulders no need to loose your temper is there? Wink

Coldshoulders · 22/12/2018 13:19

I think it was obvious what my post meant. Loose or lose it's the same word so doesn't make much difference really does it, like I said I found it helpful so thankyou.

LadyRochfordsFrostedGusset · 22/12/2018 13:32

They're not the same word but I wish you luck OP, it's horrible feeling like that.

NutElla5x · 22/12/2018 13:33

They are two totally different words actually, but you are welcome.Merry Christmas [santa]

Coldshoulders · 22/12/2018 13:36

Thankyou and i think by reading my thread it's obvious what I meant when I posted. But as always you get more spelling and grammar info then you do about the actual reason you are posting. Loose or lose I pronounce the word the same, so to be it's basically the same word to me lol

Cutting out sugar made my belly flat very quickly. It took two weeks of no sugar at all (including cutting out all sweeteners) to notice a big difference.

LadyRochfordsFrostedGusset · 22/12/2018 13:39

Lots of hydration helps too, do you drink much water?

ShadyLady53 · 22/12/2018 13:41

I’m honestly not picking on you, just thinking more of how embarrassing it can be when someone picks you up on things in person, especially in front of others and trying to prevent it happening to you. When you say loose, as in loose thread, it’s pronounced with a short s sound whereas lose (like lose weight) sounds more like looz. Genuinely only trying to help!

IwantedtobeEmmaPeel · 22/12/2018 13:47

If the weight is just on stomach and you really look pregnant some days, then I second the advice to see your GP. Don't want to frighten you, but if the weight is not budging despite exercise and dieting then you really need to get checked out.

missmouse101 · 22/12/2018 13:51

I agree that it is important to get it right as we are sharing the written word in public. Two completely different words, two different pronunciations. People who aren't sure can now use the right one. Loose rhymes with goose. For example, the bicycle wheel was wobbly and coming loose. Lose rhymes with snooze and is the word OP wanted.

Coldshoulders · 22/12/2018 13:51

I don't eat much sugar don't have any in my cups of tea. I do occasionally eat crisps my guilty pleasure ha but that's going to stop. Don't really drink coke or anything sugary but I don't drink enough water if I'm honest. It's like it really bloats my lower stomach and some days I look pregnant but I'm deffo not. I'm only a size 8 so now I'm gaining this weight it really stands out on my stomach. I might get a check up from the doctors just to rule anything else out. My school runs are 2 hours of walking a day and i would like to think im quite active. Last year I was doing alot of ab workouts but I stopped so maybe that's why. I just hate how it makes me feel I'm glad it's winter so I can layer up and cover up the pouch hahah and I meant it as I'm the looz way lol

Oh the irony. No space after your full stop and comma and no comma after “unfortunately”

Kikipost · 22/12/2018 13:55

Get back on with the ab exercises

I find them quite boring. However the difference is fantastic. I have a flat stomach so I’ll put up with it?

Figmentofmyimagination · 22/12/2018 13:58

This happened to me as a consequence of the menopause. Size 10 all my life, eating anything, until menopause and then suddenly 14, just because of tummy. Rest of me looks the same. Grrrr.

TheFuckfaceWhisperer · 22/12/2018 14:01

I'm almost 49, peri-menopausal, I have a 14 week fibroid and diverticulitis, drink too much and eat too many crisps... I dream of having my flat stomach back!

Veterinari · 22/12/2018 14:04

@ColdShoulder
Please see your GO sudden abdominal boating/weight gain an be a sign of serious problems

ShadyLady53 · 22/12/2018 14:10

Do you have stomach troubles? IBS or anything like that?

It doesn’t sound like you should have any stomach fat. If it’s bloating no amount of exercise or dieting will help.

I have Coeliac Disease and IBS so obviously cutting out gluten also helped with bloating and the the Low FODMAP protocol helped but only because I have been diagnosed with IBS.

You could have an ovarian problem or a problem with your digestive system...any number of other causes. Best seek some medical advice to find out what’s causing it.

Mixedbags · 22/12/2018 15:54

I have heard if you concentrate on too much or specific ab workouts it can make it worse. So be mindful of that

Minniemountain · 22/12/2018 16:09

I find swimming helps get my stomach flatter.

LadyRochfordsFrostedGusset · 22/12/2018 17:07

Not drinking enough water can cause dehydration and ironically lead to water retention/bloating. Same happened to me for a while OP. Now I force the 2 litres a day down and no issues.
