I have a supermarket delivery booked for tomorrow and have just gone online to add a couple of things. I scrolled through the items I ordered (on 26 Nov when this weekend's slots became available), only to discover that the free range chicken for Christmas lunch is no longer available. Several other chickens and turkeys had also sold out.

You may want to check your own deliveries.

I've complained saying that knowing since the end of November what people had ordered, they should have reserved sufficient to cover all the orders for the next three days.

Forgot what... - was it a dessert from the entertaining/made to order range at Waitrose? I got caught out with that. I just said I didn't want it at collection which was fine.

Can you refuse delivery of the desserts when they come? Driver will just refund them I imagine

This has happened to us too. I reserved my Tesco slot for tomorrow weeks ago, in the early hours of the morning of the day they came out for delivery savers, with a joint of beef. I've gone in this afternoon to add to it but there's no beef available anymore. I was in bloody Aldi's earlier and was just getting what we couldn't get there. The only reason I didn't get their beef was because I wanted it for after Christmas and thought Tesco would have a longer date. We've got lamb now.

This is the first time in about 15 years of shopping online at Christmas that it's happened though.

@SilverySurfer, my order was Tesco so it is entirely possible they will get a delivery of new stock in before your order comes out.

I understand the frustration though because if it had gone out of stock on the day, they would send a substitution.

OMG you promoted me to look at mine and it says the same for the turkey in our Sunday order. It's for my parents and they would go berserk if it doesn't arrive as my mum has just got out of hospital.

I called Tesco freaking out and they said there even though it says that, it is still DEFINITELY coming as it's locked in the system. Perhaps it's a note linked to the item which kicks in for new orders. I guess I'll find out on Sunday! I actually booked the whole delivery because my mum and dad need this and I booked it in the first hour the Christmas slots opened so I will throw a serious shit fit if it doesn't arrive! It's not even available in store as it's a delivery only item!!
