I have a friend who helps me out with the school run on school days as my eldest child's school isn't in walking distance. He knows we struggling really hard financially and says he's OK with me just giving him what I can when I can for fuel. As I can only give him about £10 a month I try to make up for it in other ways.....I provide him with 3 meals a day, he drinks an obscene amount of coffee while he is at my house, I allow him to use my WiFi (which I have to have for kids homework and UC) Gallowed him access to my Netflix account (when I can afford to pay it) if we are a fair distance from home and my husband and myself get something for lunch, we never leave him out, same if we buy a coffee or a bottle of pop, if he runs low on tobacco (my parents buy mine) I provide him with some until he can get some, but if I run low he gives me his ashtray from the car and says I can 'have those'. He has openly admitted to 'ripping people off when it comes to asking for fuel money'. I can't ask anybody else as they all either work or don't drive....I'm at a loss as to what I should do or if I'm the one that is being very unreasonable xx

Who is he and why do you feed him three meals a day?

gummybearbaby · 21/12/2018 13:22

No

OP posts:
Squatternutbosh123 · 21/12/2018 13:24

Why are you feeding him 3 meals a day, why is he messaging your dad, why is he watching your Netflix, who is he?

Avrannakern · 21/12/2018 13:25

Can we let this thread die now please?

OP isn't going to give any information and that usually means they won't listen to any advice. It just goes round in circles and is a total waste of time.

flumpybear · 21/12/2018 13:31

What do you mean you can't work as you're waiting an operation on your neck ....did you not have a job before? Jobs do give time off for operations - I'm confused on that one?

Why is this man eating at your house? All seems very very odd - I'd take the kids myself in my own car and if one is late so be it

WhatsUpHun · 21/12/2018 13:34

What they said..

Sparklesocks · 21/12/2018 13:35

Sorry OP i think we need more info about who this friend is and the arrangement (assume they live with you?) before we cab make suggestions.

Sparklesocks · 21/12/2018 13:36

*can

Coppermine · 21/12/2018 13:36
Hmm
Creatureofthenight · 21/12/2018 13:37

3 meals a day, bottomless coffee, Netflix and WiFi access - I reckon he owes you money not the other way round.
If this guy is not family or a lodger then this is weird.

Theunsungsong · 21/12/2018 13:44

If school is not within walking distance why haven't the LA provided transport. or why can't your child cycle to school?

Didntwanttochangemyname · 21/12/2018 14:15

Quit smoking, quit Netflix, buy a bicycle?

Sirzy · 21/12/2018 14:36

Why is he going to school so far away?

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 21/12/2018 14:39

Who is he?

SinkGirl · 21/12/2018 18:31

Did you choose to send your child to a school so far away or was it the only option for unavoidable reasons? If it’s the latter than transport should be provided I think. Have you spoken to the local authority about it? If not, can he move to a school that’s closer?

This isn’t a sustainable situation. If it has to continue, I’d calculate what the fuel costs, pay him enough to cover that and his time and stop with all the other things which doubtless cost more. I know how hard it is to quit smoking so no judgement there but definitely try vaping instead, works very well for some.

BettyOcean · 21/12/2018 18:42

Please tell me one of you did not just tell a poor person waiting for a neck operation to "get on her bike".

This fucking place is so very obviously not for women of limited means.

You only have to hint at poverty on here and you are descended upon with all the judgemental nastiness that can be mustered.

BirdieInTheHand · 21/12/2018 18:45

Who is he ??

None of this makes any sense Confused

PotteryLady · 21/12/2018 19:05

He sounds a cf but no idea who he is to you and why you are cooking for him

shiningstar2 · 21/12/2018 19:29

Stop feeding him 3 meals a day and pay him a reasonable amount in petrol expenses. £10 a month is £2.50 a week max!! That probably wouldn't get you one return journey to school and back. If he decided to stop taking you what would you do? You sound more dependant on him than he is on you op. Pay an appropriate amount for the petrol and stop the meals.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 21/12/2018 19:37

Stop subbing this man and you’ll be able to afford taxis to school.

LanaLily11 · 21/12/2018 19:39

This is just utterly wierd and bizarre. Is he homeless? Does he have his own family????

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 21/12/2018 19:39

Another new poster with a strange thread.

crispysausagerolls · 21/12/2018 19:44

Holidayshopping · 21/12/2018 19:44

WhatsUpHun · 21/12/2018 20:08
