To not know whether to cancel?

For a little background; I had a really neglectful childhood and am now orphaned. As such, I've never really been involved in Christmas celebrations beyond doing things with friends.

DP and I have been together a while now; previous Christmas' spent abroad but this year we are due at his parents (which is no problem; they are lovely to me).

He's gone out of his way to make it special for me this year. My first ever tree - a real one too! - my first stocking, a Christmas meal out earlier this week; some meet ups with friends etc. Stuff I'd usually love. On Saturday we've got a night booked at a hotel we love and some festive plans with friends; and then home until Tuesday when we'll go to his parents.

But I've been ill this week. I've had a recurrent cold for a few weeks; but I've been under extreme stress. On Monday I was diagnosed with a bladder infection; and on Tuesday with pneumonia. I'm on different antibiotics for both. I felt a bit better yesterday; but got no sleep last night for constant coughing and sneezing. It's still a very productive cough; a lot of mucus, and it's making me miserable. If the cough calms down; my nose streams and I'm sneezy and full of cold. Generally I feel a bit better in myself; when I'm not coughing or sneezing!

I'm taking lots of showers to ease breathing, cold and flu meds, drinking hot drinks with honey. I'm staying inside in the warm. I don't think there's much else I could do? But I'm torn about cancelling the hotel, giving it a go or sending DP by himself. He doesn't want to by himself. It's not refundable or transferable so we'd lose the money.

Would you cancel? The GP said I'm not contagious, at least, so that's something!

I currently have pneumonia also, and seriously have never felt so rough, basically can't even get off sofa. Could you really muster the energy to go away? I'd cancel and wait until you can really enjoy it.

What’s to be gained by cancelling now? You lose the money either way. You may as well see how you feel tomorrow.
