AIBU to ask why my usually agonising period is completely pain free?

I am confused! I usually cope with my period by alternating paracetamol and ibuprofen throughout the first three days, and adding some Buscopan too as the other two drugs aren't enough. My period in late November was just like that.
I got my period two days ago without so much of a twinge to let me know it was happening and I have not felt a single twinge yet.
I was actually concerned that I had cervical cancer or some other problem causing bleeding but it is nearly a month and I remembered I'd had some breast tenderness a couple of days before so I suppose it is actually a period.
I am 50 and haven't started menopause yet but maybe this is the start. I'd previously read that it gets more painful with menopause rather than less.
Do any of you know anything about this? Thanks.

I'm younger than you OP, but AFAIK all bets are off when it comes to any one individual's menopause. Some sail through with nary a symptom, some have floods, others droughts, some agonising pain, others nothing at all. You're around the age that I would expect some menopausal symptoms to be starting to kick in, so yes, maybe this is the start, but don't assume that your menopause will be the same as anyone else's.

Same age as you and my last 3 periods have been lighter and far less painful than before, like you I used to alternate paracetamol and ibuprofens but fingers crossed 🤞

Thanks ladies. It just seemed so bizarre - I haven't taken even one panadol and usually I take them at the first twinge because if I 'get behind the pain' (as my doctor said) I can never catch up to it. Thanks for your comments.

This happened to me but after I had given birth. Always had painful periods and had to remember to stock up on ibuprofen but after my daughter was born it takes me by surprise and no twinges or any warnings. It’s strange how our bodies work.

Not trying to scare u but this happened to me. Completely pain free. By day 8 (usually lasted 6 days) it was still full flow so i went to drs. Turned out i was pregnant with a scar ectopic baby and my body was trying to flush it out. After 17 weeks of bleeding and a cesarean hysterectomy my baby is now a healthy cheeky 1 year old. Im mot saying this is whats happeneing to you tho lol just sharing my experience if it continues id go get xhecked x

I think I had the pain for you. My period was so bad last week I couldn't get out of bed. It was fun explaining that to my male manager when I went back to work !

Yes, someone on here told me the lack of pain was due to hormone levels dropping.
I’m 50 too and had horribly heavy periods that went on for weeks a couple of years ago, but they were pain free after a lifetime of painful periods.
Then i had a bit of spotting from time to time over the next few months, then nothing at all.
No hot flushes either so i don’t want to count my chickens yet but I’ve been lucky so far!

Thanks all. Interesting reading. I hope this continues like this!

Whereforartthou - my DH has had a vasectomy so I should be in the clear. Congratulations on your cheeky baby Smile

This happened to me when I gave up sugar and took up exercise, like you, I always have to stock up on pain relief and it came and went without me even snapping at DH once!
Very hard to stay off sugar over xmas though.
