My dm just went mad because I gave my 1yo milk straight from the fridge before bed.

Aibu not to warm it up?

The weather was warm when our eldest went into cows milk. He had it from the fridge & wont touch it warm. It’s not done him any harm.

SmileEachDay · 20/12/2018 20:35

Milk anything other than ice cold is the spunk of Satan. Even then it’s a bit gross.

YANBU.

Besides, why create additional work if DC is perfectly fine with it?

XmasHolly · 20/12/2018 20:46

My dd hated warm milk (still does, 23 years later!) and we always gave her milk straight from the fridge.

John4703 · 20/12/2018 20:48

I have to comment. We adopted a wee boy back in January 1979 and in March 1980 the social worker asked if we would take another wee girl who had been rejected by her current adoptive parents age 3 months. I went home and told my wife we were having a baby :-).
The next day we collected her and she would not feed well. We struggled, she was our third baby so we should have managed. We always gave her warm milk exactly as we had with our two boys. After a few weeks of difficult feeds for some reason I gave her a bottle straight from the fridge and she loved it. End of problem. Based on this it seems that some babies like cold milk.

Nothing wrong with giving cold milk; at first my DD liked it warm like formula but after a little while she was just as happy with it cold as warm

Huntawaymama · 20/12/2018 20:52

My Dd was breastfed until 1 and I then went straight to cold cows milk. I wasn't going to start fannying about heating it up

formerbabe · 20/12/2018 20:52

My DC were both happy to have cold milk or warm...I never understood the obsession with heating it up.

JupiterDrops · 20/12/2018 20:52

My one year old has milk straight from the fridge every morning and night! Haven't warmed milk since she started on cows milk.

SoyDora · 20/12/2018 20:56

Mine have only ever had it from the fridge Confused.

OddBoots · 20/12/2018 20:58

A 1yo will make sure you know about it if they don't like it.

Wooooooooaaaaaaaahhhhhhh · 20/12/2018 21:01

Of course yanbu. If they prefer it then what’s the problem.

Justkeepsmiling12 · 20/12/2018 21:01

My DD only liked cold milk...even as a baby on formula. She'd scream if it was warm until it was cooled!

SoyDora · 20/12/2018 21:01

What’s her issue with cold milk?

atomicfission · 20/12/2018 21:44

My toddler refuses hot milk but loves cold milk. Says "milk cold - been in the fridge" every time we give it Smile And in fact I never liked warm milk either - it tastes weird. Go with whatever works, and ignore what other people say.

avocuddl · 20/12/2018 21:46

I knew I was right.

As pp even her formula she'd never have it warm tbf

She's a bit snotty and dm thinks that the cold milk is bad for her chest 🤦🏽‍♀️

I have this argument with my dm all the time.

Ds likes cold milk! She warms his milk.....

SoyDora · 20/12/2018 21:54

how on earth would the temperature of a drink affect your chest?

agnurse · 20/12/2018 21:55

Milk itself can increase phlegm in the throat but I'm not sure what the temperature issue is.

Babydontcry · 20/12/2018 21:56

My little boy loves milk but will only ever have it straight from the fridge

MuncheysMummy · 20/12/2018 22:20

My little boy is 2.5 yrs old and likes it warm or cold? To him it’s 2 different drinks depending on temperature he enjoys both ways, squally cold with meals and warm as a drink/snack on its own

JamieFraser · 20/12/2018 22:24

I ebf my babies and I've never warmed milk... they drink cows milk and I prefer it cold

kaytee87 · 20/12/2018 22:28

I've never heated milk for ds, breast or otherwise.
He has drank all milks cold or room temperature.

SheepyFun · 20/12/2018 22:40

I was very grateful DD would drink cold milk - it meant I could feed her on demand, and have bottles ready in the fridge, not wait while she screamed. I should clarify this was from about 4 months; I wouldn't give cold milk to a newborn.
