To hate nest doors cat

I can't leave my bathroom window open without it bloody coming in!!!!!

I am tired of finding dirty paw prints in my bath or paw prints on the window from where it's climbed in and out again while I've been out of the room

Makes me cringe cause I have to buy new toothbrushes often as where the cat seems to climb in is right by our toothbrushes.

Surely I can't expect ndn to control their cat (I know that's unreasonable) and I'm not closing my window as I'm avoiding the damp after a hot shower or bath!

I know there's not much I can do- probably just wanted a little bitch and moan Grin

You know if you try and make friends with him he'll probably fuck right off. If there's one thing they hate it's people who're all up in their face trying to pat them. They just looooove people who leave them in peace, that's probably why he likes your house, he knows you won't come near him Grin

Oh OP you had me all excited that this was some smart home app to control my own arsehole cats. But you just want help with other arsehole cats? Noooo 😩

erykahb · 20/12/2018 09:56

Toomuchold- will that work from a distance do you think lol? I'm so allergic to cat fur!

Sorry to disappoint WereYou, but if you do come across anything then let me know!!!! I'll pass it on to next door so they can control their arsehole cats Wink

Can you get a cat silhouette cut out and put that up at the window? The cat might think another cat is there and not come in.

  • I’m not sure such a thing exists or if it would work but it seemed like a good suggestion.

Water pistol when you see it or stick on velcro and insect screens fabric - amazon do them - to cover window.

Yeah, just start baby talking to him. "Hello, you beauuuutiful boy, come her and let me cuddle you" and he'll be out the door never to be seen again Grin

I used to have a flat that got caught up in the territory fight between my neighbours cats on both sides (and it wasn't on the ground floor either). It took about three times a whole bucket of water over both of them till they understoid that it was MY territory. Most cats hate water.

My dad used to make a sirrup with chili and other things in and pour it around the garden. It used to help (till it rained though). Maybe worth a google?

IHopeThisIsAGoodIdea · 20/12/2018 12:52

I'd go with the window screen. I still find it odd that they aren't common in the UK but whatev. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Chuck water. That post about territorial cats reminded me that I use to keep a pistol by the window for the same reason, and fill containers of water...it worked. It does work.

What stopped our ndn's cat pooing in our garden was orange peel on the flower beds, most cats hate citrus. (Knew it was her as had seen her and scared her off more than once.)

You could try making a citrus or chilli mixture (something else they don't like) in water and leaving it in a nice, decorative pot on the bathroom windowsill until the cat stops coming in. Then it can be used for candles/something you like to smell/see etc so it's not a waste of a pot. Then if the cat tries coming back a few months later replace the ornament with citrus/chilli again until it leaves again.

As for our ndn's cat, I asked if we could give her treats/tuna etc when around and ndn said yes. She (cat, not ndn) doesn't poo in the raised beds anymore but does come in and sleep on ds's top bunk or in the fruit bowl (empty - we can't use it for fruit now) all day. If we catch ndn pooing in the flower beds we will have to come up with an alternative solution to stop her I guess as humans aren't normally afraid of oranges!

Water and yelling was the only thing that stopped the neighbours cat coming into my house. It was summer and the back door was open so the kids could play in the back garden while i was in the kitchen so i couldn't lock it out, i had to scare it out. Didn't come back in the garden or the house which was a good result, i have a resident badger now which seems to keep the cats away but I'm not sure you want a badger in your bathroom anymore than a cat....

I love cats, but had to try to get rid of a big bold one who kept coming in to roam our house and eat our own cat's food.

I shut it in and threw water over it and shouted Blush

Bastard cat wasn't even slightly put off. In the end we had to get a new catflap that only opened to our own cat's microchip.

Afaik the only reliable way to keep a cat out is a physical barrier. Sorry.
