Ingratitude and entitlement

Have just watched a school pantomime put on by 10 and 11 year olds. It was outstanding, and the kids thoroughly enjoyed putting on their show. Staff are proud, Head is proud, parents are proud. Then it’s ruined by a parent saying that they will be speaking to the teacher and/or Head about the fact that their child didn’t have a better role in the panto. Then they went off huffing. Why do people do this? It’s left such a sour taste after what was otherwise a very uplifting and enjoyable evening. So frustrating.

Because they are tossers, put on this earth to remind us to be nice.

WhatsUpHun · 19/12/2018 21:31

Well maybe that parent is fed up with the same kids every year getting all leads?

Lettermethis · 19/12/2018 21:31

There's always one.

WhatsUpHun
They don’t. In fact the staff make very sure of that, and this particular child got the part that they wanted!

My mother is a primary headteacher. I'd estimate that in the past five years she's spent at least four years trying to pacify crazy parents and one year doing her job Grin at least three times a week she has to speak to a parent about negative comments made on Facebook about the school.

WhatsUpHun · 19/12/2018 21:38

I wouldn't and haven't said anyth8ng negative at a performance, but there were a few children at my dcs school that literally always got the lead roles, year after year after year,

You always get at least one person moaning. They usually complain that either the teacher has favourites oe its children of the PTA who get the main roles.
In my experience the main roles tend to go to the children that are the most confident, the ones that wont stand up on stage and freeze. When my kids were little their school often had 2 or 3 kids playing the same role so everybody got a line or two to say. Was a bit confusing when Mary changed between scene 1 and 2
