I’ve made time this year for choral music - the power of the human voice is really uplifting. Much better than the “radio standards” Christmas music that are overplayed from October every year.
I don’t buy tat. Things people would like, or find useful (preferably both!😁), yes.
We don’t do a load of socializing - but we do have a few nice gatherings to finish off winter terms at sailing and Cubs and a gathering of our neighbors. All very relaxed.
We do go to visit family over the holidays. But we take a few days to slow down ourselves first, enjoy some nice dinners (including a nice turkey roast, that we work together to cook, and actually enjoy - or we’d buy something else to eat).
And we don’t drown in so much cheap chocolate and biscuits and beer that we’re paying it off, and struggling to diet it off, for months into the new year. We buy a few nice treats, that we enjoy and can afford, but keep limits to our consumption.
It’s also a time of year to slow down, get to some nice services in church, spent some time reflecting on family no longer here, and celebrating the Christmas birth.
Does that make me someone who can’t see the nakedness?
I hope not!
