Appliance has broken down and will cost about £250 for new one with replacement.
Landlord is asking me to pay plumber then said he will pay me straight back.
What you think would you accept this.

Get the plumber to send bill to landlord

garethsouthgatesmrs · 19/12/2018 19:34

no way. Landlord can surely arrange a payment method that doesn't go through you such as you ringing him upon satisfactory comoletion of job and he transfers money by bACS. dont use your own cash.

Whatififall · 19/12/2018 19:34

If white goods are included with your tenancy then I would not be paying up front and getting it back from landlord. It is their appliance and their responsibility to fix and pay.

lastqueenofscotland · 19/12/2018 19:34

Get the plumber to invoice him

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 · 19/12/2018 19:35

If the landlord can pay you, why can't he pay the plumber?

bestofme21 · 19/12/2018 19:35

If it's your appliance then you should pay for the replacement. If it is the landlord's appliance and they have agreed to replace it then the plumber should invoice the landlord. You should not be paying and being reimbursed. The landlord should deal with this.

God no!

I'm a landlord and that doesn't sound right at all.

Worzilgummidge · 19/12/2018 19:37

I don't have a very good income and don't really have the money at this time of year to pay out but I hate people knowing it

It's Christmas, there's no shame in saying you can't afford it this month, it's an expensive month. The
landlord should transfer the money to you upfront or pay the plumber direct.

Worzilgummidge · 19/12/2018 19:55

Okay thanks
