Next sale Boxing Day

AIBU to think that no one in the world needs to go shopping at 6am on Boxing Day? Every year it's the same at my local store and I think it's completely out of order. The staff have to get there at 4am, so after working their fingers to the bone on the lead up to Christmas for low pay they then don't even get to enjoy Christmas Day with their families but have to get up at 2:30/3am for people fighting over half price trousers.

Lots of people need to work over Christmas I know but shopping is hardly an emergency is it?!

I work at next and am in at 6am on boxing day after putting out and tagging racks of clothes ready for the sale. Don't see why we can't just open at the normal time at the very least. Did get to choose what I wanted from the sale at the end of today's shift but would rather have been home with my kids.

I went past Next today so decided to pop in, sure enough they had all the stuff on rails ready, just not marked up with sale tags. The workwear, which is what I normally look for, was sparse so don't think I'll bother. Had success going first thing some years back but found what was available in the sale gone downhill so stopped going early. Got some nice soft PJs there one year.

I think its awful too....i work in retail but my last shift was on the 21st and im not back until the 27th...

Opening at 6am is completely unjustifiable. Will the directors of Next be getting up in the middle of the night to get to work by 0530 on Boxing Day? Though not.
