About ohs night shift

BigBumandMumTum · 19/12/2018 09:12

We have 4 children, 2 are autistic.(one of the autistic children gets up at 5.30am)
This week oh is on 6pm-6am shift.

He gets in at 6:15am and wants me to keep the children quiet so he can sleep straight away.

I take the children at 8:30 and come back at 4 with them, the house is silent then.

Aibu to be telling him I can't keep the children quiet and he has the whole day to sleep when they are at school?

YANBU.

Keeping kids quiet is easier said then done op! Where does he expect you to go that early in the morning? I previously worked nights and if I didn't go to sleep straight away I'd be awake until afternoon, nights are awful on your body clock

YANBU, as someone who did night shifts for 12 years.

Yeah he is definitely being unreasonable. I used to do nights and sleep when the DC were at school, then get up to collect them & go back to bed for another couple of hours at about 8pm until I had to get up (midnight-8am shift.)

He needs a pair of earplugs and some white noise, and a grip.

My dh works night shifts, we have a two year old, yanbu.

Yanbu and I say that as a shift worker. We’ll both of us actually are. I also finish at 6am and if DH is day shift he works 7am to 7pm. So I get in at 6.15 and he goes straight out the door. Then I feed DS get him ready for school etc and can only sleep once he’s away to school (he also has autism and goes in a taxi so is picked up around 8.30am). I then sleep when he’s at school and get up just before 3 for him coming home.

Yanbu.

Tell him he has to wait. He’s got all day. How about he helps you get them ready for school instead
