To be worried about this sore (warning manky foot photo).

I have a sort of sore on my toe which won't heal. It isn't sore, doesn't weep or bleed and when I rub my finger over it, you can't feel anything there. It's just this weird spot that looks a little bit like a scab but isn't. I haven't done anything with it.

I'm guessing it started after some shoes rubbed. I don't remember that happening but I have had shoes rub there in the past so it would make sense. I've been wearing new shoes the last month or so which definately aren't rubbing.

But I've had this now for probably a few months (maybe longer) It's not getting worse but not getting better.

I'll book a GP appointment for the new year but any ideas in the meantime? Any suggestions on how I can help it heel?

I know I have infected nails. I can't get rid of those either. Blush

Ha. Just realised my feet are wet in the photo. Sorry.

Re the nails, GPS are unlikely to prescribe antibiotics for infected nails unless they're appalling. They heal from underneath so need tablets. None of the over the counter stuff works according to my chiropodist.

Lovingbenidorm · 18/12/2018 23:31

That’s a beautiful photo for anyone with a foot fetish 😂
Definitely looks like a rubbing shoe situation.
As for nails , either get some Nailer (or similar) or your gp could give you some oral treatment

RNBrie · 18/12/2018 23:32

It looks like a corn to me but they usually hurt... you can buy corn plaster which get rid of them very effectively.

PipGoesPop · 18/12/2018 23:33

Corn (not on the cob)

JumpingJunipersBatman · 18/12/2018 23:34

I figured as much which is why I've never seen a GP/chiropodist about them. I'm on other meds which mean I wouldn't be able to take anti-fungals. I think my only option would be to have the nails removed but seeing as 7 out of 10 of my toe nails are infected I doubt that is an option either. Sigh.

I never even considered a corn. Shall take a look. Thanks.

I feel sorry for people who would get excited at photos of my feet! Grin

Looking online, I don't think it is a corn but I'll get some plasters in case.

Try the corn plaster but if it doesn't work go to gp. Poor healing especially on the feet can be a sign of diabetes.

Floralnomad · 18/12/2018 23:46

Show it to a pharmacist before you stick a corn plaster on it . I once put a corn plaster on something I thought was a corn and it was really painful .

Fretfulparent · 18/12/2018 23:48

Please see a GP
It has an irregular edge and patchy colour.

Vicks vapour rub every night and morning cleared my nail fungus - you have to get it all over the nail - its the time oil I think that is supposed to work

Level11 · 18/12/2018 23:54

Ouch! That does look sore. Foot problems and poor healing do go hand in hand with diabetes as has been mentioned. I'd book an appointment and also request a blood test.

Aquamarine1029 · 18/12/2018 23:56

My first thought is diabetes. Are you overweight?

JumpingJunipersBatman · 19/12/2018 00:09

Not diabetes. I had a test a few months ago in a supermarket. I know it wouldn't have been a proper fasting test one but the NHS who did it said it was a good indicator if further tests were needed.

I did it be a use of the link with foot health. I think the nails are because I used to get a lot of athletes foot. God, my feet are sounding sexier by the second. I know how to prevent it successfully now though.

Re the nails, I think I've thrown pretty much everything at them. I've tried...
Lots of over the counter treatments
T-tree
Vicks
Dettol
Salt
Coconut oil
Washing in kefir
Lots others that I can't remember

When I used to paint my nails all the time, it kept if under control but when I stopped using nail polish they just went crazy. :(

I still think you should see your GP and I'm fairly sure they will request a fasting blood glucose test and prescribe something or refer you for your toenails and the sore spot. They're not going to get better on their own and you shouldn't just be putting up with it.

In the meantime, neat teatree oil cured my slightly manky big toenail but it did take six months.

stabulous · 19/12/2018 00:35

Your nails look like you have nail psoriasis. That would be a reason for it not disappearing, cos it generally doesn't (I also have it unfortunately).

vinegarqueen · 19/12/2018 00:57

Please, please see a GP. It could be a corn, but moles/sores on or between toes or fingers need to be checked by a doctor in case it is a skin cancer and needs removal.
