DH asked me to grab something from the car so I went to look and found empty liquid bottle boxes in the car for a e cig so I asked him and he said he started yesterday but I felt like he hid it from me as he knew I wouldn't approve, I've been sat here crying about it is that stupid am I worried for no reason

I'm not saying he should vape but actually that isn't proven, according to the nhs website

I know he has tried a friends vape in the summer and even then I made it clear I wasn't happy with it, I can't remember the type of cancer it was but luckily it was only a case of surgery, he didn't need any chemo or anything like that I'm glad everyone agrees with me, he doesn't know I made this post but I might have to show him now to prove my point, I truly believe he has never smoked before atleast not while we have been together which has been 12 years now and lived together for 10

Those arguing vaping doesn't cause cancer / issues.... neither did smoking until enough years, deaths and research had passed. Smoking used to be advised by Doctors!

Like everything in life... it's free choice. But it is very naive to think that it is "safe" because there is currently no concrete proof it isn't.

He had a tumour removed along with half of his left lung so they said it's very unlikely to come back and has a yearly check up he is due his 2nd check up soon

I hate to be the bearer of less promising tidings, but...

My mother had half her lung removed with tumour attached in 2012; the surgeon told her it was a "cure". I accompanied her to each annual check-up, including 2015 when she got the all clear again and we (as new tradition dictated) went for celebratory coffee and cake.

In November she was coughing up blood. It had returned and despite chemo and radiotherapy, she died in July 2017.

I find it extremely odd that someone who has never smoked before has taken up vaping.

Ollivander84 · 19/12/2018 19:12

Popcorn lung was debunked, and the chemical removed from e liquid. The chemical is actually in cigarettes

https://publichealthmatters.blog.gov.uk/2018/02/20/clearing-up-some-myths-around-e-cigarettes/

However, diacetyl is banned as an ingredient from e-cigarettes and e-liquids in the UK. It had been detected in some e-liquid flavourings in the past, but at levels hundreds of times lower than in cigarette smoke. Even at these levels, smoking is not a major risk factor for this rare disease.

I'd probe a bit OP...something doesn't sound right.

Osirus · 19/12/2018 23:46

My husband used to smoke and he hid it from me. It was odd as he never smelled of caigarettes but he did smoke (I saw him, several times when he thought he was hiding). I would never have known otherwise.
