I’m utterly fed up. I’ve got bloody chicken pox! I’m a 30 year old woman! I’ve had them as a kid, its not fair I’ve got them now 😫 it’s a week to go until Christmas. How can I get rid quickly??! I’m more upset that I’ve potentially infected my niece who is only 6 months old without knowing as spots have only occurred today and I was baby sitting on Saturday and now feel awful 😫😫

I’m on my own and just feel utterly sorry for myself.

OH that sucks!! I’m annoyed for you OP! I don’t think you can speed up the process of chicken pox but I hope it clears up quickly for you. Hope your niece is ok. My son got it at 8 months old and you honestly would have known he had it other than the spots. He didn’t seem to suffer with it.

Aww poor you, look on the bright side though. Better now than 4/5 days down the line closer to Christmas. Hopefully you will be over the worst by Christmas. I've never had chicken pox. Hope you feel better soon and have a good Christmas 🎄🥳🎅🏼 xx

wouldnt have known

Skinnydecafflatte · 18/12/2018 16:16

Bathe in bicarbonate of soars, it relieves the itching and helps dry them up quickly. Don’t have neurofen.

Thanks @ilovemaxibondi that makes me feel a bit better. I am so upset at the the thought of her feeling as crap as I do. Really hope she hasn’t got it 🤞

If it's any consolation my DD had it on her first birthday and was fine.
Hope you feel better soon Flowers

PumpkinPie2016 · 18/12/2018 17:15

Aww poor you OP! Having it twice just takes the Mickey!

FWIW with regards to your niece - my son had it at around 12 months old and apart from.visible spots you wouldn't know he had it. He wasn't I'll at all so if she does get it, she may well be fine!

You can get cream called virasoothe and take antihistamines. I hope you feel better soon.

Bubblysqueak · 18/12/2018 17:41

I got sent home from school with chicken pox. I was the teacher Sad

WhatelsecouldIbecalled · 18/12/2018 18:06

How long did it take to clear up @bubblysqueak?

They had all scabbed over and I was able to get back to school after 5 days. I found piriton was good and calamine lotion for the itching.
I stopped feeling rough after 2-3 days (the embarrassment however took a lot longer to get over!)

ShutUpBaz · 18/12/2018 18:10

There is an anti-viral you can take (DH got prescribed it when he caught CP at the age of 34 when DD bought it home from nursery 7 years ago. He'd had it twice as a child). You need to start taking it before 48 hours after the first spots have appeared and take it at regimented times. It supressed the symptoms for DH, and he felt better more quickly.

Virasoothe is amazing stuff too!

WhatelsecouldIbecalled · 18/12/2018 18:27

Can’t take anything now it’s too late I have the spots.

I’m a teacher too. Have caught it from the bloody kids. I won’t be back now before Xmas as doctor said no school for 5 days. After slogging out through an horrendous term I now miss all the nice bits. Bought bloody Xmas pressies for the the team too!
