I get that he needs the cannabis oil for pain relief but why then go and choose to live in a country with strict drug laws?

He even says "I knew what I was getting into," he says. "I knew there were very strict laws but I chose to come here anyway because the surf is the best in the world."

Let’s face it. Cannibal oil wasn’t to only cannibas product he was using.

KeiTeNgeNge · 18/12/2018 08:52

Cannibal oil?! Yeah, he’s a fool.

steff13 · 18/12/2018 08:55

Cannibal oil

😁

I don't think he should be subject to the death penalty, but it's hard to argue against the charges when he admits he knew better. Doesn't Australia have really good surfing? Maybe that would have been a better choice.

RedHelenB · 18/12/2018 08:56

He says it's his own fault.

TooTrueToBeGood · 18/12/2018 08:57

Limited sympathy from me. He knew the law and chose to break it. I do have some sympathy for people who face excessive punishment by our standards (e.g. death penalty, flogging etc) but only a fool travels to countries with a barbaric judicial system and then deliberately breaks the law.

SylvanianFamiliesNurserySet · 18/12/2018 08:59

I agree, I’m against the death penalty in principle. But honestly, what on earth was he thinking? Why would you deliberately break the law when you knew how harsh the penalties were?

TBH I think this has just explained a whole lot of things about human nature for me. Like (wait for it) climate change denial for example. There really are plenty of people out there who think that nothing bad will ever happen to them, simply because they don’t want it to and they don’t think it should Confused

Birdsgottafly · 18/12/2018 09:10

So now he's suddenly worried about when he will hug his children next. This is his children, 11 and 8, who live on the UK. Previously to living in Bali, he lived in Canada, yea, he really worries about his children.

There should be a prison sentence, but nowhere near five years.

paintinmyhairAgain · 18/12/2018 09:22

no sympathy, he knew the law why flout it ? of course he's sorry, he got caught.

Chloe84 · 18/12/2018 09:31

'I'm afraid because I don't know how long it's going to be before I can hug my children again. They are the only thing keeping me going right now."

Oh whatever. Convenient ex wife to loud after kids while he lives in Bali Hmm

Iloveautumnleaves · 18/12/2018 09:33

...and to think they say cannabis doesn’t affect your brain cells.

No sympathy at all. The guy is an idiot.

(Obviously sympathy for his parents etc, and actually I hope someone gets the utter fuckwit out of there and back home again, but Jesus wept, what an idiot.)

paintinmyhairAgain · 18/12/2018 09:42

he's going to play on the dc aspect isn't he ? wonder what his ex thinks about it ?

HowlsMovingBungalow · 18/12/2018 09:49

31kgs of Cannabis oil? That's quite an amount for one person. Hmm

Nesssie · 18/12/2018 10:11

No sympathy at all. And as if people are crazy enough to crowdfund his legal fees!

He deserves to go to prison. You don't go to a country and break their laws and expect to get away with it just because you are British.

DeepanKrispanEven · 18/12/2018 10:25

Gah, I hate the "No sympathy" response - it sounds so smug and judgmental. He's taking full responsibility for his actions, I don't think gaining the sympathy of anonymous people on web forums is exactly his first priority.

TooTrueToBeGood · 18/12/2018 10:47

31kgs of Cannabis oil? That's quite an amount for one person.

It was 31g not kgs and that allegedly included the weight of the container.

Crimbobimbo · 18/12/2018 10:49

He's been silly, I wonder why he took such a risk.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 18/12/2018 10:54

Ah my mistake!

Nesssie · 18/12/2018 11:17

DeepanKrispanEven Except hes asking the public to pay his legal fees and wants the government to help him skip his punishment?

RivanQueen · 18/12/2018 11:42

The guys an idiot, this is just one of the boards in Denpasar airport Indonesia (Bali). They make it really clear how hard line they are when it comes to drugs being trafficked and used in their country.

to think this man should have thought things through a bit more
RivanQueen · 18/12/2018 11:47

Just saw he's trying to raise money for his defence and has asked the Foreign Office for their help. I hope he doesn't hold his breath, Indonesia is a non-extradition country and will do whatever they want regardless of what foreign governments and lawyers try to do.

Jackshouse · 18/12/2018 11:54

I also noticed on the DC part - such a great dad even though he lives in a different continent.

aintnopartylikeansclubparty · 18/12/2018 12:37

Has he never heard of Schapelle Corby

QuackPorridgeBacon · 22/12/2018 13:04

I have sympathy to some degree. I haven’t read the article and I believe every should be able to access marijuana whether that be recreational or medically. However, you don’t go to a country and risk something stupid like that. He knew the law and admitted it’s his own fault, but why would you even risk it?
