What makes you happy in your life? Materialistic or not?

OP posts:
KeepServingTheFestiveSnogs · 21/12/2018 00:23

so many things. Many of them mentioned by others upthread. I love being outside and walking. i love having a dog for this reason.

People I love.

Songs and music.

Friends.

I love people 'getting' and appreciating me.

Unexpected and genuinely meant compliments or thanks. I hate false compliments. But real ones mean so much.

Unexpected pleasures (like, when you're dreading a night out, but it turns out to be fab)

Random kindness

When you start thinking about it, there's just so many.

Not setting an alarm....

Huntawaymama · 21/12/2018 00:24

My kids and my husband

Seeing them happy, having a tidy house, having time just me and my husband, baking, cooking, hobbies

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 21/12/2018 00:24

I'm a SAHM and I love when my husband is home for a few days from work, especially if the kids are off too so we can be together as a family.
I love long family days out in the summer.
Love nights in with husband, takeaway, maybe a few drinks.

userschmoozer · 21/12/2018 00:27

Being out in the garden with the birds.
Then coming in all cold and muddy and standing in a hot shower. Its bliss.

stayathomer · 21/12/2018 00:28

Really outdoorsy walks, family movies, pjs and new or fluffy socks after a shower, and of course sleep!

doctorsnewcompanion · 21/12/2018 00:28

My DS face on Christmas morning.
Adventures with DS and with lifelong friends.
Materialistic maybe but the things I own myself, my car for example, after an ex said I’d be nothing without him.
My elderly grandmother, every minute I spend with her, I’m happy.

LaLoba · 21/12/2018 00:30

The sound of my dog’s contented sighs when I’m poorly and he lays on top of me all caring for a nap. The memory of my niece and nephew as toddlers knowing they could get me to read to them for hours with silly voices and everything while they snuggled either side of me. Little things my husband does like zipping up tops when he gets them out of the dryer because my hands can get stupid with zips these days.
Material stuff - my lovely shiny lightweight bike, and my antique bureau desk.

TheOrangeOwl · 21/12/2018 00:40

Not the height of excitement but:

Feeling my baby's kicks and nudges and knowing I don't have long left of pregnancy

Climbing into clean sheets

A bath with my DP and a bath bomb

My cat chasing the laser pen in circles until she gets dizzy and can't walk (sounds cruel, but I promise she loves chasing it)

Chocolate fudge cake and mint chocolate ice cream

My pets all just being very cute in their own ways

That my DP is sleeping next to me, every night I'm grateful to fall asleep next to him

And the best one - a completely empty dirty laundry basket! Happens so rarely but is a very happy sight indeed.

Nothininmenoggin · 21/12/2018 00:53

The look on a mother's face when I lift up her baby to her for it's first ever cuddle.
My best friend in the world for lots of reasons.
My husband when he makes me an unexpected but welcome cup of tea.
My son when he realised what I'm saying makes complete sense.
The heated seats in my car after a long night shift and it's freezing outside.
Being healthy and not taking it forgranted.
Coronation Street and Emmerdale.
Bailey's whenever.
My new bed sheer bliss.
My lovely neighbours who help with my garden.
Chocolate hobnobs.
The last item left to iron now that makes me very very happy.

Meangirls36 · 21/12/2018 02:43

Clean pyjamas and bubble baths and roast dinners. And Moscow mules

Hot men

MelanieCheeks · 24/12/2018 22:45

Singing and dancing. I actually noticed myself waking up happy recently, and asked myself why. And the answer was that I had choir and dance class that day.

Running-more that if I can't do it I miss it, so it keeps me sane.

Good wine, good cheese, good chocolate.

Pinkginxx · 24/12/2018 22:50

Not sure if it counts as materialistic but having enough money that I no longer worry about money. After struggling for a while it's a huge weight lifted.
After 15 years + of depression of varying degrees, coming to the slow realisation this summer that the black dog had buggered off. So being thankful for my health and finally living life through 'normal' goggles.
Otherwise BBQ pringles, cheap red wine, babybells, playing ABBA and steps at full volume, reading when it's raining outside, my new sparkly bird cushion, living the life I always wanted. Being a better person than I used to be.

And cat videos...

arranbubonicplague · 24/12/2018 22:58

Being around moving water.

Paddling on water (kayak) - being on the water as the sun rises or as its setting. Watching fish jump round me in the boat.

Aerial work (lyra, trapeze, hammock).

When an elaborate piece of work has a very satisfactory conclusion.

Daffodils?? Me too ❤️

Daffodils8 · 24/12/2018 23:04

My other half.

We're long distance at the moment which I definitely don't love but lucky enough to see each other every weekend; we take it in turns making the trip. It's knackering but no one has ever made me as happy as he does.

Sorry it's a bit mushy, I'm watching Love Actually! Blush

What makes you happy, OP?
