DH needs help organising his friend's Stag

TinselBee · 17/12/2018 10:51

Hi,

So our best friends are getting married and as DH is best man he needs to organise the Stag.

The Stag will just be him and the G2B though! G2B is only really close to DH and has said he would not like to socialise with anyone else on his stag (fair enough it is his Stag).

DH has asked me to help him organise it though as DH hasn't really ever had a blossoming social life himself or really done much either!

Stag is meant to be in less than 3 weeks time!!!!

BUT I havent a bloody clue either!

I was thinking London though, we are only a short train ride away from the City. And I know G2B loves dressing up nice and he wouldnt risk bumping into old "school friends" if he went out of town.

Please can I have suggestions thrown at me? (Yes I realise I'm now asking MN for help after DH asked me!)

I was thinking somewhere like FlightClub in Shoreditch but they won't take bookings for 2 people!

TIA

Ffs it's two guys going out for drinks. It really shouldn't need any external assistance.

TinselBee · 17/12/2018 10:56

Pogmella they do not just want to go out for drinks though... that is the issue. DH has said he wants to go places and do activities... I am like "errrr Tower of London? Aquarium?" My mind is far more geared up towards things for DS now!

Even if it was just 2 of them going out for drinks, where in London would you suggest? None of us have ever gone for drinks in London!

Trills · 17/12/2018 10:57

What kind of thing do they like to do?

Do they want to see a show or performance of some kind? Or participate in any activities?

How exactly are you supposed to help here, if they don't know what they want to do?

OftenHangry · 17/12/2018 10:59

If they are into whisky or gin or beer they could go for a tasting session? Some offer even mixing classes. Then dinner and then drinks somewhere nice

Cuddlykitten123 · 17/12/2018 10:59

Casinos usually do a package ...

TinselBee · 17/12/2018 11:01

Trills that is how I feel! How am I meant to help? Finding it kinda frustrating DH has now left it up to me tbh as he said I am good at organising!

OftenHangry They are so boring when it comes to drink, all they drink is Bud! (Beer tasting is more up my street!) thanks though

Cuddlykitten123 ah yeah a Casino might be a good idea actually. I'll have a google

They could climb the O2?

TinselBee · 17/12/2018 11:01

tissuesosoft might be a bit cold, wet and windy in Jan?

An escape room? Comedy club?

tendence · 17/12/2018 11:04

You can abseil down the 'funny looking tower' in the ex-Olympic park, could perhaps be something? Would be fun for two people too. www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attraction_Review-g186338-d6522304-Reviews-ArcelorMittal_Orbit-London_England.html

You can get a private guided tour of London - loads of options there, Beatles London, Jack the Ripper's London, Princess Diana's London ;-) - probably anything he might be particularly interested in. There's also a London 'loo walking tour' that sounds odd but is apparently quite interesting and quirky.

There are speed boat trips on the Thames.

You can 'climb' the O2 - to be honest doesn't look that amazing but could be a little bit of fun.

There are escape rooms - might be jioned with other people but could be fun too.

Hope they find something good!

easyandy101 · 17/12/2018 11:04

Go the 100 club, jazz cafe or Ronnie Scott's if they're into that kind of thing, never had a bad night at any of them

user1474894224 · 17/12/2018 11:05

What about an activity in the day like up at the O2 - where you walk over the O2. Or book into the sky garden and they can have cocktails up high. Tickets to a football match or other sporting events? Rib cruise on the river thames? Nice steak out at Hawksmoor? Are there any bands on in town? What does the stag like to do with his gf? Could that give you a clue? Locked in a room experience? Look at trip advisor forums they often have great ideas. Obviously it depends on your budget too.....what about not going to London....go to Bath...do some history, book the spa, then go out for drinks and a meal.

tissuesosoft · 17/12/2018 11:06

Warm clothes and they’ll be fine. There’s also the Emrites cable cars. Is there a game going on at Wembley? (If they’re in to football or rugby)

LoudestRoar · 17/12/2018 11:06

www.medievalbanquet.com
Medieval banquet at Tower Hill? Ale or wine included in the price..

JustABetterPlayer · 17/12/2018 11:07

Check the local authorities rules on strip clubs, Nottingham for example enforce a silly rule where dancers are only allowed to be topless. And no, they are not cheaper due to this Grin

Now I’m just going to walk calmly away....

VeggyGravy · 17/12/2018 11:14

Does the wife work never end? Hmm

Seriously, two men can sort out going somewhere on their own.

TinselBee · 17/12/2018 11:16

G2B enjoys: Gym, Netflix & dining out. They don't really go on dates or do anything as they save all their money for holidays/ mini breaks (they go on at least 6 a year) When away they go trekking, exploring cities and eating out. I just cant imagine DH happily exploring London though! Then again it is not his stag.

Although I did have G2B over the other night whilst DH was at work and his GF was out on an XMas Party. He said then his favourite thing to do is to get dressed up and go for a really fancy meal followed by some classy drinks but it just isn't his GF's idea of a good time. So maybe I should focus on that regardless of what DH enjoys doing?

Btw thank you for everyone suggesting ideas, I am keeping note and googling etc! Please keep them coming

VeggyGravy you would think that but so far the places I have looked up are already fully booked! and Escape rooms appear to be a minimum of 3 people, annoyingly as this would certainly be G2Bs thing

OP posts:
TinselBee · 17/12/2018 11:18

Btw, I guess I am allowing myself to get involved in this because G2B is also my best friend and I don't want him disappointed.

Something like this: www.thebletchley.co.uk?

Musti · 17/12/2018 11:21

For goodness sake, get them to organise it!!

catmumof1 · 17/12/2018 11:26

Blackrock bar in Shoreditch, its a whisky bar with a huge selection and a hollowed out treetrunk table full of more whisky!
You need to book (or you won't get in) and you choose a timeslot. It's all online and easy.
The bar itself is underground and they have a doorman with a clipboard, I felt like a bit of VIP when I was on 'the list'. Staff were friendly and there wasn't any judgement for asking for the cheapest options. Everything was appropriately priced and they have everything from standard blends to very rare bottles.

Joey7t8 · 17/12/2018 11:29

I cannot believe that a grown adult can’t organise a day out for himself and one mate in London.

redexpat · 17/12/2018 11:31

Crystal maze!

ImFreeToDoWhatIWant · 17/12/2018 11:38

Wtaf? Why the fuck is this your problem?! Tell your dh to grow a spine and a brain and sort it out himself! Honestly I despair...
