How royal is this?

Not only has a grandson married an American actress but, according to the DM, via 'palace sources', she is 'ostentatiously cradling her bump and wearing dark nail varnish which the Queen hates'. So outrageous is this that the photograph of this has been 'withdrawn', whatever that means, although its in the DM. The dead hand of the RF is at it again. Leave her alone.

But she knew of the restrictions before she decided to marry into the royal family. She will be bank rolled for life and will live a lifestyle others can only dream of, she knew there was a price to pay for that. Maybe she should've thought about it a bit longer if it's now such a problem.

fruitbrewhaha · 17/12/2018 11:57

The press in the UK are awful, a truly devious bunch of cunts.

The country is in a dire mess because of the so called free press. That and the idiots who believe everything they read.

Hedgehogblues · 17/12/2018 11:58

I honestly don't belive any of it

BerylStreep · 17/12/2018 12:03

I hate the way the press seem to be trying to suggest there is tension between MM and Kate. Who cares? It just feeds into a stereotype of bitchy SILs.

ravencaw · 17/12/2018 12:03

Does anyone believe the Queen gives a flying fuck about nail varnish?

She will probably be pissed off if Harry misses the family pheasant shoot thou. And pheasants are shot to eat, which some people find enjoyable sport (not personally). Peasants are not wild animals, they are stocked for shooting and are essentially free range poultry. Given the choice I'd rather be a pheasant that a battery hen, turkey or duck, all of which a majority of UK residents will tuck into on Xmas day.

Pogmella · 17/12/2018 12:08

raven they shot grouse. In order to maintain grouse populations eagles are illegally culled.

brizzledrizzle · 17/12/2018 12:12

The DM attitude is probably much like many of it's 'readers' - 'How dare a foreign black woman come here and marry into OUR royal family, it's outrageous'

I wish the gutter press would just leave them alone and concentrate on the real news.

BishopBrennansArse · 17/12/2018 12:18

They're shooting peasants???😱

brizzledrizzle · 17/12/2018 12:32

Only the peasants who are revolting.

GCAcademic · 17/12/2018 12:36

And pheasants are shot to eat, which some people find enjoyable sport (not personally).

I’ve no idea what happens at Sandringham, but at some large shoots, far more pheasants are shot than can be offloaded to local game dealers, restaurants, etc, so they dig a big hole and bury the carcasses of hundreds of birds.

astoundedgoat · 17/12/2018 13:00

The Daily Mail article is hilarious - it's like a pr piece to coincide with The Crown or something - "what the DM might have written about MM in 1950". It's deliberately presenting her as racy and wild for what - opposing bloodsports, having a manicure and attending a public event in her capacity as a member of the Royal Family? They even compare her unfavourably to the 71 yo Camilla in a photo with a Shetland pony... was she supposed to wear tweeds to the event?

And then to add to the general madness, they've got pictures of PRINCE ANDREW interspersed throughout, presenting him as a normal, respectable counterpoint!! The man might well face extradition charges next year if the hundreds of underage rape and child trafficking cases again Epstein are reopened, and even without that he's more of a liability than MM's father could be in his wildest dreams.

I hope that Doria becomes as strong a gatekeeper for her daughter as Carole Middleton is for hers, because she needs someone she can trust on her side.

Spamfrittersforeveryone · 17/12/2018 13:02

You are the problem OP.
Stop giving this stuff oxygen.

longwayoff · 17/12/2018 13:11

Ok spam, fair point, but as goat says, its just so gobsmackingly forelock-tuggingly, hilariously awful that I felt compelled to share it with you all. Extremely encouraged to find that everyone feels it's just an absurdity.

I think it would be kinder to abolish the monarchy all together and give them total privacy.

SleepingStandingUp · 17/12/2018 13:25

Do the press care less about Eugene's DH because he's male or because he's no where near the throne, and doesn't "work" pfor them? I'm not sure how much anyone cares about Autumn Philip's although Mike Tindall raised some eyebrows.
I'm sure in time there will be just as much scrutiny over Charlotte's dates as Louis'

Downtheroadfirstonleft · 17/12/2018 15:16

You spend ages thinking you know just how horrid the DM is, but the hateful rag can still surprise you.

Doodlebug5 · 17/12/2018 15:22

The photo of her at the fashion awards with two other people who's name escapes me is a gorgeous photo and I wish it hadn't been deleted.

Yes as a mother, hats off to carole M.

If Kate had bad days she knows she is never just a part in their royal play.

I also hope gloria can be as much support for meghan.

Birdsgottafly · 18/12/2018 07:45

"I think it would be kinder to abolish the monarchy all together and give them total privacy."

Only if we are no longer paying for them.

Anyone who wants out, can go at any time. They've just got to have the ability to support themselves, but that seems to be sadly lacking.

I like having a Royal Family, I'm happy to pay for them. Anyone who believes the likes of the DM are very hard of thinking.

The Queen is in charge, as such. She's of a different time, when publically celebrating pregnancy and painting your nails dark colours, was seen as wanton.

Anyother GM would be on Low Contact and ignored, unfortunately that can't happen, so there's going to be a period of adjustment and a few clashes.

FestiveNut · 18/12/2018 09:43

@birdsgottafly

I used to be more pro monarchy, but then realised it's not just the main ones we think of and like, such as Wills and Kate etc. It's the Beatrices and Eugenies who don't do enough to justify the expenditure on them if you ask me. Unless they fund themselves?

longwayoff · 18/12/2018 10:55

Fubd themselves?GrinGrinXmas Grin

FestiveNut · 18/12/2018 12:01

I think it says fund... Confused

FestiveNut · 18/12/2018 12:02

Oh, I get it, were you laughing at the idea of them funding themselves? The typo threw me off, sorry.
