To think the BBC will change or go under?

I don't know many people who watch the BBC, most people I know don't have a license and just have netflix, Amazon, now tv etc

I know it has some popular programmes, but I can't see how it will survive longer term when netflix etc are cheaper and imo have much better programmes. Am I in a bubble or aibu to think it will have to have to have adverts/change longer term?

Interesting views on this thread.

I pay for a license as I do watch BBC on occasion. Usually the Masterchef's, other cooking shows and some dramas like Killing Eve. I also watch live events like Armistice Day, Olympics, Royal Wedding etc. I can't imagine never watching live TV when there is a big event happening but each to their own.

BBC do drama really well, I give Netflix and Now a rest and find content on the iPlayer I've not seen.

We don’t watch much live TV most programs are rubbish and the adverts tedious, especially when you get the same ad at the beginning and end of each ad break.

I used to listen to Radio 4 a lot but it is so dumbed down and woke I rarely listen

I think the bbc is already changing, chopping some current affairs programmes like dateline ☹️, they also had a book review programme on last night at a fairly prime time, much to my husband's horror! I think they're cutting back expenses and putting 'oldies' shows on 1 and 2, while investing in more younger audiences on 3 and 4

Are those programmes on Netflix at the same time as they go out on the BBC? When I find a series I really like one of the things I enjoy is knowing that everybody else who loves it is watching at the same time as me, so I can chat to them about it at work, when I meet friends, or on here, or on Twitter.

I agree, I really like the 'live' aspect of watching something same time every week. Almost unheard of now though, even people who watch the beeb etc mostly binge watch on catchup
