Honestly don’t know what to feel but just
Need to get this off my chest...
I started a new job as a HR manager at an organization which literally begged me to
Choose them over another 2 job offers. It was all good the first two days and then I get a phone call the next day saying there was a restructure in the office and my job is no longer needed...I left my employment and rejected the other two offers for this role and they piss me off after the second day? I am livid and need to know if I am AIBU to demand answers and request a replacement job? Give me your opinions ladies...

As if there’s a set way for an HR manager to write anonymously on the internet.

We’ve got some Australian family so I’ve spent some time over there and travelling and I’ve never been to a place so anti-Islam in my life so I honestly believe you it’s probably the headscarf. I met a girl over there who wore and she worked in a restaurant where they wouldn’t let her serve out front because of it Sad
My family also share some on the edge of dodgy Facebook posts that I don’t like too

So you only had one he interview? And it was with the person you were replacing? That all sounds dubious.

Flora88 · 16/12/2018 13:22

To be honest it's common in Aus for companies to take people on and dismiss them when the work dries up/ they want to hire someone else.

OhTheRoses · 16/12/2018 13:28

As an HR Director, if they offered a permanent contract pending an imminent restructure and if you had given notice to your previous employer having been persuaded to accept their permanent offer I would be seeking redress for a payment equivalent to ymthe notice period of the role from which you resigned.

I would also expect an HR Manager worth their salt to know this and to wrote it could have been rather than it could of been.

absolutely zero chance she can claim discrimination unless she has an email that clearly says to fire her because she’s declined to join the office Christmas party or some other smoking gun.

They don’t think you’re a good fit. They let you go. Funny how you’ve jumped to the conclusion it must be your religion based on absolutely nothing.

I also have family is Australia and went travelling there for six moths and the one thing that really surprised me was how racist the country was in general (I guess most of my previous knowledge was learned through Neighbours).
Based on this I would say without certainty that this was about the headscarf.

Redtartanshoes · 16/12/2018 13:45

My money is on the person you replaced that interviewed you knew her bosses were s both of racist twats and your appointment was their last “fuck you”

Ringbinger · 16/12/2018 16:34

I just don’t buy that a company with 100 employees would hire someone who only someone who was leaving had met.
