Why are bad guys in american films british?

Got me thinking a few weeks ago and now I notice it alot! But right at this moment I can only think of 2 It’s true though!

It doesn’t look racist to cast a white British actor as a villain, but he’s still foreign. Plus Brits are cheaper and not ‘divas’ apparently

What a coincidence, only the other day my daughter was talking about bad guys in films. She was saying NO ONE does a bad guy as well as an English man. Id never thought about it before but she was right.

You get that during the Cold War British espionage was mainly directed against the Russians, right? Complaining that James Bond is always going up against the Russians is like complaining that in WWII movies we were are always fighting against the Germans.
