No Christmas meal for staff - management went out in secret

So pissed off. No Christmas meal arranged for staff this year, for various reasons, but refusal of time of and lack of money being the main ones. Change of hours means we're all working until 5 on Christmas Eve and it was suggested drinks after that instead of a meal. Unsurprisingly, most people can't make that as they want to be home with family.

On Facebook the other day and a photo appeared of all the managers tagged out for Christmas lunch, and then off to the local panto. This post swiftly disappeared, and not a sausage from one manager who tends to post if she so much as farts. They are all saying they were in a team meeting, although this is obviously a cobbled together excuse and it seems it is deliberately being kept secret.

Am I being grinch like to wish them all a merry fucking Christmas and hope they choke on a mince pie?

That is shit, maybe you could all bring it up to management. Funny they have money for management to go out to a meal and panto, and nothing for you all! I wonder if they all had to pay their way.

ForalltheSaints · 15/12/2018 12:28

I work in government. I would be OK with no Christmas meal- we have to pay for ours, and fortunately I work with a decent group of people so we all had a pleasant afternoon.

However, if there was no Christmas meal but the directors went off, I would be as annoyed as the OP.

It's definitely in work time - the signing in records show this.

I’m most bemused by the fact that grown adults chose to go to the pantomime for their work’s Christmas lunch, I’d be happy to be missed out of that

Stormy76 · 15/12/2018 12:41

Well it's a bit out of order that they have taken a Christmas lunch in work time with a panto as well when they refused to allow you guys the time during the working day for a Christmas lunch! Regardless of who paid, I would be annoyed if that happened where I work. We just do our own thing after work because the NHS would never allow us to take time during the day.......we are expected to work.

Organise a meal or something after work ....... put up posters and make a big deal but if the managers try to join in Just tell them there isn't enough room for them .....fully booked.

Panto is NOT teamworking!

Ohhhh yes it is...

That's disgraceful, they basically used public money to go on a jolly to a panto?

Waddsup12 · 15/12/2018 13:45

Panto?

I'd drop a note to the local rag. Lying gits.

ForalltheSaints · 15/12/2018 21:24

Adults going to panto without children? Something to use against them- perhaps turn up dressed as one of the characters one day.

maggiecate · 15/12/2018 21:44

I'd get everyone in the office giving Heron-style responses for the next few days.

Manager: "Have you seen Jim?'
Whole office: 'HE'S BEHIND YOU!'

ScrantonTheElectricCity · 15/12/2018 21:47

What Maggiecate said!!!

Pavlova31 · 15/12/2018 23:11

Certainly what maggiecate said Grin
