Flying into Manchester tomorrow, driving to Sheffield

AIBU to ask you for hourly updates on the weather, snow and driving conditions?

We really need to get into Sheffield before Wednesday as DD is having an operation to remove her external fixator that has been lengthening her leg for the last six months. This bloody thing has to come off now, I have had it with pins, screws, infections, inflammations and the wheelchair.

Tell me we are going to make it! If we don’t I don’t know when they will fit us in again around the holidays.

Search for Snake Pass for the highest bits, and Hallam Head for nearer Sheffield.

I've been in Sheffield today - heavy rain but no snow although very cold. It's supposed to be improving tomorrow.

All we need is to avoid the gillets jaunes, find parking at the airport, manage to land in Manchester, drive to Sheffield, avoid fevers and D&V, get the OK at the last check up and the bloody thing is off!

We’re not far from Mcr airport (on the flight path) - it’s pretty grim but not airport-closing grim, certainly haven’t had any of the freezing rain I heard about on the radio earlier.

The icy rain has caused problems in the Penistone area and some events have been cancelled. Temperatures have already started to ise though.

Just driven home to Glossop end of the Snake, sign says "passable with care"
