DP friend jo has a husky and it was seriously ill with pancreatitis- and his partner was having a day procedure and basically Jo partner was adamant jo wasn’t going to look after him, and me and DP felt that jo should of been at vets about 1 hr away! Jo mum did do all the work when husky was ill and on one day worried husky was nearly dead! Jo mum didn’t tell him!

But jo partner felt adamant jo should be looking after him, been together 8-9 months! Jo partner family were looking after him! For day of procedure and day after, the two days husky was really ill’ jo mum was going on constantly via taxi to feed husky! Cost her a fortune
If jo was at home he would of done all driving! Jo was very upset that his partner basically said I’m ill - and you need to be there for me! Jo felt obliged to do so though feeling horrific about the husky! But that to be supportive he had to leave the dog his child in a sense! Even we said if it was DP dog and it was early days I would want to see him and would understand about dog also.

For jo is this controlling behaviour?
Jo should of been able to be there for his dog, and visit partner when he was better,

Bit garbled but husky should have been a priority.

Housingcraze · 15/12/2018 00:26

AIBU to say the dog should of been Priority

Jo partner cat will be Priority Christmas Day as jo partner won’t leave cat alone without seeing it first thing Christmas Day! Which jo gets but I agree it double standards

No a partner having surgery should always take priority over a dog. It is just a dog.

PositivelyPERF · 15/12/2018 00:41

Poor dog should been priority if it was that ill. Minor surgery makes not one not of difference to wether or not the dog should have been looked after properly. Only a selfish, cruel arse would think the dog was unimportant.

Bloody hell ive read that 3 times and I’m still not sure what’s going on.
Am I right in thinking that pal Joe had to make a choice between dog and partner?
Sorry if I’m misunderstanding here but a pet does not outrank a human when it comes to illness.
Also, a Husky?!
