Yesterday we scattered a family members ashes. We all did it.

After my turn, I walked back up to a few family members and we all having a bit of a cry - not hysterics, just silent tears and talking to each other.

I then looked over and my uncle was taking our photo ... I just felt a bit like my privacy was invaded and it was insensitive. Why would you want to look back on a memory of your family grieving and crying?

I wouldn't have been thrilled about it in the moment either, and I also think there are a lot of reasons (whether good reasons or not) that someone might want to capture an event like someone's ashes being scattered.

Can you ask him what his intentions are for the photos and let him know you'd rather he deleted the ones with you in them?

No. That seems wrong. I think he should've asked for permission at least. I'm sorry he did that.

I didn’t mean photos of the actual ashes being scattered

But I’d walked away from that area and back a few paces .... I just felt there was no need for it.

My husband was at a funeral recently and a mutual friend of theirs couldn’t attend (he lives in the ME), so he asked my husband to take photos, so he could put them on poxy Facebook. Hmm
