To think Tim and Dawn are one of the best-ever TV couples?

Seriously, is one of the most satisfying moments I've ever seen. Rewatching it, even now after all these years, still brings a tear to my eye!

(Bonus in the clip is David telling Finchy to fuck off!)

I love that song! That scene is so sweet. Have to mention Josh and Donna as another classic for the will they won’t they tension though.

Dramallama16

That whole scene is brilliant. David Brent plastering on a forced smile as he thinks he's going to have to take the unattractive woman into the office and his relief when she asks for Monkey instead.

I love that scene as it is my epitome of achievable relationship goals :) two people having a slightly awkward kiss at the office party. It's perfect....

OlennasWimple · 14/12/2018 23:03

It's a great scene and a brilliant conclusion to the "will they, won't they" thread

My favourite TV couple is the title characters from Him and Her - beautifully honest (and very funny)

Avegemitesandwich · 14/12/2018 23:05

The best scene with Dawn and Tim is when it's Red Nose Day (I think?) and Dawn is giving away kisses for money and they sort of accidentally awkwardly kiss and it's HOT!

aconcertpianist · 14/12/2018 23:17

I think they do stay together. They understand each other's dreams and the fear that stops them from realising them. I think Dawn knows Tim wants her to be the best she can when she opens the box of paints in the taxi.

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/12/2018 23:22

Actually I've worked with Gareth-types before - odious jobsworths and certainly not lovely and/or misunderstood!

My DB and SIL had Only You (Yazoo original!) as the first dance at their wedding in tribute to this scene Grin

Roobub · 15/12/2018 05:18

@Hobbes8 I totally agree with with you. The series stays pretty strong until Michael Scott leaves, I wish they'd ended it gracefully then!

It starts off a carbon copy of the UK version but quickly finds it's feet as it's own unique show and has some excellent characters (Darryl Philbin, I'm looking at you) who don't / couldn't have a UK equivalent!

Oblomov18 · 15/12/2018 08:03

Alison Moyet. Perfect song choice!

Suomynona · 15/12/2018 08:09

The Tim and Dawn story is sheer brilliance. I have tears just thinking about that scene, fabulous song too. Ricky Gervais is a genius (in my opinion anyway).

Roobub · 15/12/2018 08:15

I love The Office but I really went off Ricky Gervais after Extras and Derek. Extras was pretty funny but I found both shows unbearably annoying for their portrayal of women in jobs like cleaning or caring as beyond pathetic and utter failures. I'm not one to get easily offended by telly programmes I promise but it just really grated on me! Especially as the whole premise of Extras was supposed to be self mocking / tongue in cheek etc but it just lost all self awareness in it's portrayal of Maggie!

Roobub · 15/12/2018 08:17

I should add he's a funny and clever man there's no denying that. And I massively appreciate all he does for animal charities.

CaptainBrickbeard · 15/12/2018 08:21

Tim and Dawn are perfection - that is easily the most satisfying tv moment ever!

I love Jim and Pam and other US Office couples almost as much. I am feeling the need to watch all the Christmas specials (the teapot!) and have a massive weep fest actually.

SaveKevin · 15/12/2018 08:21

Absolutely loved it, I could watch that scene over and over it’s beautiful. Just beautiful.

I watched the 1st series of the us office but it was too close to the uk one and hated it. Recently caught the 2nd onwards on Comedy Central and it is AMAZING. It is brilliant and jim and Pam are just lovely too.

JustWhatINeededNow · 15/12/2018 09:04

I'm off work (broken limb) so have binge watched the US office on Prime. 9 series!

Also Cold Feet

Agree about Tim & Dawn Smile
