To let ill toddler sleep all morning?

He's my PFB and he's never really had a proper fever before, just colds and stuff. He was awake for an hour overnight after vomiting. Woke up this morning, was sick again and just wanted to be held and do nothing. Stayed very quiet. He fell back to sleep at half 9 and has been asleep for an hour now. AIBU to just let him sleep as much as he wants? Or is there some reason that you shouldn't do that?

Let him sleep. Hopefully he’ll feel better for it and you can go for a walk with him this afternoon. Then early bed and back to normal tomorrow!

Or else just sleep all day until he feels better.

No of course not! Sleep is absolutely the best thing and he obviously needs it.

I always let my LO sleep when he needs to. He's sleeping on me right now because he has a cold and didn't sleep very well last night. I don't think there's any harm in it, I think it's responding positively to his needs

Let him sleep. Their bodies need the rest (like adults) to recover

I always need sleep to recover and I m 50Smile

Make sure he's drinking enough, if he hasn't had a lot to drink since vomiting I'd wake him after a couple of hours for a drink. Otherwise I'd let him sleep as much as he wants, he'll need the sleep.

Of course let him sleep. Make sure he drinks a lot and sleeps as much as possible.

Thanks everyone! He nursed to sleep so hopefully will not be too dehydrated.

Hate that worried look on his face when he throws up :(

Oh yep just let him sleep. If you said how old he is I didn't see but a bf baby shouldn't dehydrate, offering water in a bottle or sippy cup can't hurt, nor can Calpol. If he's very hot despite Calpol, or stops peeing (sign of dehydration) get help. Call 111 if you're at all worried.

I’d agree - let him sleep!
My one year old has days sometimes when he will nap for 3 hours... even if not obviously unwell - I always let him sleep as you don’t know if it’s a growth spurt or a developmental leap or what. Hasn’t affected his night sleeping at all.
