To wear maternity trousers for Christmas dinner?

I’ve already put on some weight this month thanks to my inability to pass a pack of mince pies in the supermarket so my trousers are feeling tighter than usual. MIL puts on quite a spread on Christmas Day and is a determined feeder so I know I will eat far more than I should and will be left uncomfortably bloated and I don’t think that jut undoing the top button will cut it. So, AIBU to get myself off to the shops for a lovely, stretchy, comfy pair of maternity trousers so that I don’t feel like I’ve been trussed up like a chicken?

I have always thought this is a good idea.

I miss my maternity trousers they were so bloody comfy.

Do it.

I dont think you necessarily need maternity trousers. I have smart black trousers from Marks that have a stretchy waist, v comfy!

I'm wearing mine all over the Xmas period. I would have just had a knee op and won't be able to fit my normal trousers over the bandage and I suffer from serve bloating and nerve damage. Plus most people won't notice or care. Do whatever makes you comfortable!

If it’s good enough for Joey Tribiani!

Yep, stretchy elastic waistbands are for pros of the buffet and Christmas spread etc Grin

YANBU. I wore my maternity leggings and jeans for ages after I gave birth as they were so bloody comfy. I only stopped when they started to fall down. I wish I could go back to waistbands that I don't bulge over the top of.

Joey did it

MrsTerryPratcett · 12/12/2018 14:34

You're a genius.

Excellent idea. With a pretty top.
Eat your heart out.

@PinkFizz unfortunately I can never get smart trousers from M&S that fit, I think my thighs are too big for them ( no thigh gap here)

That’s it, I’m off to H&M tomorrow to see what they’ve got!

I have some lovely black velvet ones from Evans with an elastic waistband that are oh so comfy but still look quite smart with a nice blouse!

I did this last year (exactly 13 months after having DD) and it was brilliant. Enjoy!
