Thatsalotofblood · 12/12/2018 12:52

Got the coil in 7 months ago, periods been irregular, last 6 week's been bleeding on and off thought nothing of it, did check with the nurse she said it sounded o.k.
Use a moon cup, last night it was full within 4 hours (30ml) emptied, this morning was over flowing, 8am-11am full overflowing, and 11 till now overflowed
In pain too, my drs is closed till 130 so anyone know if this is normal?? 120ml over 8 hours or so? Plus the overflowingness of it

The copper coil did the same to me - very painful and very heavy periods (normally I'm super-light and hardly feel a thing). The change scared me silly and I couldn't put up with it - had it removed after three months.

Mirena, on the other hand, was a dream!

Get to a walk-in centre or anywhere that has a doctor in it, OP - you must feel rough.

Thatsalotofblood · 12/12/2018 14:54

A nurse called me and told me to go along to a&e, at first she said as I have the moon cup in and seeing the blood I'm probably worried about nothing but I told her about the pads being soaked through

Please go and see someone - my coil had migrated out and into my pelvic space.

hannah1992 · 12/12/2018 14:55

The copper.coil is bad for heavy bleeding. I know a few women who have suffered badly with it.

I suffered with the implant. It was fine for the first year then the problems began. Once it was taken out I was fine from then.

It may be worth having it removed in the long term but in the short term I'd take yourself to A&E if no GP will see you as that is a lot of blood to lose

Mrspotter12 · 12/12/2018 14:56

X post, grad you are going - if they offer an internal ultrasound, take it, I didn't and it delayed my treatment. (I was bleeding so much and I was stupidly embarrassed!)

Roaring · 12/12/2018 15:00

Hope you're ok OP

nocoolnamesleft · 12/12/2018 15:10

Glad you're going to get seen. This does sound excessive.

thepurpleline · 12/12/2018 15:22

Yep, get seen by a doctor asap. As other poster said save all soiled pads to show the doctor. I am speaking as a former midwife. Let us know how you get on. x

ichifanny · 12/12/2018 15:22

Please get seen today if you can a previous poster on here had similar bleeding and they ended up having an ectopic pregnancy that ruptured .

CammieKennaway · 12/12/2018 15:47

Please, please, if you haven't already been, get to A&E - what worries me is not only are you flooding but you also said you're feeling cold and weak - this happened to me and I had life-threatening anaemia and needed to be kept in hospital for a couple of nights and needed a blood transfusion but hopefully you will just be given Ferrous Sulphate or Ferrous Fumarate and maybe some Folic Acid too
Wishing you the best of luck xxx

WilburforceRaven · 12/12/2018 15:54

Hope you are on the way to being seen now. A woman on here had this happen with a coil. It turned out she had a severe infection. The ones telling her it was 'just a heavy period' could have killed her.

Lovemusic33 · 12/12/2018 15:59

Hope all is ok, this is pretty normal for me but I have always been heavy, if it’s something out of the norm for you then it needs checking. Glad you are going to get checked out.

aibutohavethisusername · 12/12/2018 16:00

Hope that you have gone to the A&E OP Flowers

Thatsalotofblood · 12/12/2018 18:51

They took my bloods but I had to leave to pick DD up, theyll call me with results
They had a feel of my tummy and felt some hard bits, and gave me that acid someone mentioned. If my results are abnormal ill need to go back in.
Still bleeding

mcdog · 12/12/2018 19:14

Sounds horrendous OP. But I'm glad they took it seriously as A&E.

Thatsalotofblood · 12/12/2018 20:03

Called back as they hadn't and they said they can't give results over the phone!!

OP posts:
Sausagefingers9 · 12/12/2018 20:05

Can you get to the hospital to find out the results? Are you still bleeding heavily?

Pastaagain78 · 12/12/2018 20:21

That’s crazy!

klixie · 12/12/2018 20:39

How are you feeling now? How is the bleeding?

JudasPrudy · 12/12/2018 20:57

That's what I had on the copper coil, soaking through a tampon and pad every hour or two. Nightmare.

SunnyJune · 12/12/2018 21:04

That's the copper coil for you!! I'm 6 months in, had 2 a&e admissions due to overflowing mooncup after mooncup every hour for 2 days and absolutely horrific pain. The pain was like a strong contraction followed by a different kind of stabbing pain. Had scans and everything was fine.
The menfanamic/transenamic (sp?) acids are fine but they drag my periods out for so long so I don't bother now. The blood has to come out somehow and I'd rather have 3/4 mega heavy days than be on a moderately heavy period for 9/10+ days.

Good luck.

Mrspotter12 · 12/12/2018 21:59

Do you have to go back in for the results or back to your gp?

Arrivederci · 12/12/2018 22:11

Hope you're okay OPThanks. Would like to mention that menstrual cups and copper coils do not mix well. They can suck the coil right out. When it happened to me I googled it, apparently it's quite common, wish I'd known before. They don't tell you when you have the coil fitted I assume because cups aren't too popular.

WilburforceRaven · 12/12/2018 22:11

Sunny no one should have to put up with that.
