Woman on the bus wanted half my fudge...

Light-hearted thread (hopefully?).

I was shopping today, got on a bus home. As a treat, I got a nice bar of Christmas fudge (kind of like mince pie flavour!). Trying to save up and it was a bit pricey, but I haven't gone out in ages or done anything much that would cost anything, so I thought it would be a nice thing to have a little treat. I was hungry, so bit off a bit to much on, and put the rest in my handbag. Then a woman sitting across tapped me on a shoulder and asked what it was I was eating, so I said what it was. She said it smelled nice and if she can have the rest of it (!). I was a bit take aback and said I ate it all and there was non left. She kept on asking where I got it and how much it cost and if I was sure there was none left a few times.

I later thought she was maybe hungry, but then she saw my shopping bag sitting proudly next to me on my seat with bread and bananas sticking out and didn't ask for those, so wonder if she was a CF just going after my nice fudge?

People who get buses are just ... people.

OP, it's your fudge and your treat, keep it for yourself if you want (that wouldn't be unreasonable) or give her a little square if you want a warm glow, but WTF is about all these comments about her being a CF? The way OP describes it, if that's how it happened, she sounds as if either she has ASD (lack of social skills, directness, persistence in the face of 'normal' expectations) or MH issues. Play your bleeding MN bingo cards all you like, but maybe give someone the benefit of the doubt now and then?

Also: it's only a bar of bloody fudge ffs! She wasn't proposing to move in with you.

GabsAlot · 11/12/2018 22:10

she doesnt sound right -can i have the rest? surely a social mh problem

RavenLG · 11/12/2018 22:10

An old man on the bus today dropped his keys. He was struggling to get them so I bent down to get them, only the bus was moving, I’m recovering from a broken ankle and I’m a fat shit so I very nearly fell over and dragged him with him. I think I was the bus weirdo today. I wouldn’t have asked for your fudge though, just eyed it up longingly from afar.

ScrantonTheElectricCity · 11/12/2018 22:11

More importantly - WHERE DID YOU GET IT??! Mince pie fudge

peanutbutterandbanana · 11/12/2018 22:12

You can buy mince pie fudge from The Fudge Kitchen, branches in quite a few places and they sell online.

Ghanagirl · 11/12/2018 22:13

@MonaLisaDoesntSmile
You sound incredibly sweet but remember life is full of CF’s
Sorry bad day at work and feeling like everyone is always taking😭😭

GoodHeavensNoImAChicken · 11/12/2018 22:13

Ona beach in Florida i once had a man ask me to put our suncream on him and then rub it in ! I was putting some on DP’s back at the time and found it very odd

I assumed he had a disability as he was later scolded by a lady in a very childlike manner but it was all bizarre Hmm

SnowyPaws5 · 11/12/2018 22:13

peanutbutter thank you!

YoThePussy · 11/12/2018 22:15

You see all life on buses. I had a woman try to sell me a bottle of Southern Comfort once. Just smiled and said no ta.

Was on the bus eating a bar of chocolate when a small child in the seat in front tried to rifle through my handbag. The mother threw a complete wobbly when I stopped him and started screaming at me how unfair I was to eat chocolate in front of her DS and not give him some. And if I had I would be the wicked pervert who tried to drug her child.

ScrantonTheElectricCity · 11/12/2018 22:17

Ooh thanks peanutbutter!

YoThePussy · 11/12/2018 22:20

Just googled the Fudge Kitchen, none near me sigh. Notice there is one in Windsor, wonder if the Monarch is a regular there?

crazycatgal · 11/12/2018 22:20

@Poppyinagreenfield If someone next to me on the bus offered me a piece of their food I'd think that was strange and decline.

LunaLovegoodsRadishes · 11/12/2018 22:21

I work on public transport and can confirm there are some very odd people using it.

manicinsomniac · 11/12/2018 22:24

It's her asking you for the rest that is truly specially CF. I can just about see a very shameless and confident person with a sweet tooth asking for a bit but the whole thing ...!?

I can't stand up for myself at all so I'd probably have broken a bit off for her. Even I wouldn't have handed over the whole thing though. Bonkers.

crispysausagerolls · 11/12/2018 22:24

YANBU, but also not a fan of people eating on public transport - fudge isn’t too bad but the amount of loud eaters with their mouths open or people eating smelly food...ugh

HerFemaleness · 11/12/2018 22:28

Apparently Waitrose sell it too. I don't have a Fudge Kitchen near me, but there is a Waitrose.

JW1226 · 11/12/2018 22:29

Your purse is still in your handbag isn't it 😂

GlitterGlassEye · 11/12/2018 22:36

Aldi have little boxes of flavoured fudge, one being mince pie. Lost on me because I think mince pies are rotten. The salted caramel was nice but I was annoyed that it had more of a tablet texture Hmm.

Anyway now you all know.

Wauden · 11/12/2018 22:41

Can I have some too?Xmas Wink

KimchiLaLa · 11/12/2018 22:51

The other day I was on a bus and a woman struck up conversation with me. I was looking at some vests I just bought my baby from primark. I answered in a non interested way as I just wanted to be left alone. She then asked me if I had a phone. I don't know why I said yes but I did. Could I message her mum for her she asked? Erm, ok then. She tried to take my phone and I said it's ok, I'll send the text for you. She got me to write out this whole message and even had the guts to say "ok say "bisous!" (French for kisses) at the end. I said no, sorry! I then told her my stop had come and the couple opposite me, who had been giving me sympathetic looks throughout the whole exchange, ushered me off the bus. It was just odd. I don't know why I agreed to do it.

sushisuperstar · 11/12/2018 22:51

@BorisAndDoris agreed.

YoThePussy · 11/12/2018 22:53

Tablet texture fudge is my favourite, will be visiting Aldi tomorrow. Thanks Glitter

DontCallMeCharlotte · 11/12/2018 22:56

I once got my ponytail cut off on the bus while having an epileptic fit. So yep strange people on buses

OMG that's appalling!

FairyPenguin · 11/12/2018 22:58

Waitrose is selling Mince Pie Fudge, and also Black Forest Fudge. They’re on offer: 2 for £4 at the moment. Bought some as Christmas presents and have so far resisted eating any myself.
