I would just really like some assurance I've done the right thing Grin but feel free to disagree.

Really unhappy at work, it causing me stress and I just don't like it. I saw a job locally for £2k more than I currently get, so applied. The recruiter emailed me and said it's only part time for 3 days a week, and the salary is pro-rata. So I would realistically end up with £7k less than I get now.

Problem is, we are currently applying for a mortgage, so any change in my job and income would need to be declared, and I can't really take a pay cut at the moment due to that.

So I told the recruiter no, I need a part time job, even though the job sounds great. They said it may be full time after 3 months, but I feel nervous about that.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I assume you told the recruiter that you need a full time job due to the mortgage application.

I wouldn't touch it until after you have the mortgage money in hand and have bought the house. If you could live on 7k less then look at it after you've got the house. It may never go full time.

Sorry that was a typo, should say I need a full time job

Wouldn't risk it whilst applying for a mortgage no.

CottonTailRabbit · 11/12/2018 19:39

Nope. Full time now or stay where you are until mortgage completed.

I would remember what a wise friend told me - a promise is a comfort to a fool! You could ask the recruiter if you can speak with someone at the company about the hours, and opportunity of it going full time etc. Otherwise, forget it.

If you are trying to secure a mortgage, changing jobs would be a very foolish thing to do. Just stick it out until the mortgage process is completed.
