To not know how to stop my cat going into this building?

I live near some shops and offices. I got a call this morning saying my cat had been going to the office part of a shop for about a week, but that she’d bitten someone and wouldn’t leave so could I please come and collect her. She’s quite skittish and can bite but it’s rare. So I go along, pick her up and apologise, all fine. They explained they leave their back door open all the time which is how she got in. She’s not done this before so I’m fairly sure they’ve probably beckoned her in, she’s v cute so no problem.

A few hours later I got another call saying she’s back (she hates being in and ran out as soon as there was a crack in the door) and if I didn’t come and collect her now they’d be calling pest control. Went and got her, asked if maybe they’d close the door for a few says and they said no. I don’t really know how I can stop her going in there if the doors open and they’ve already been making a fuss of her? Any tips?! Don’t want to piss them off but she’s miserable inside for too long. I totally understand they don’t want her in there but I wish they hadn’t waited a week to call me!

Can’t you just give them a little water gun and tell them to squirt her with it if she comes in?

I wonder if they put up a fly curtain, one of those beaded things, she wouldn't go in?

Celebelly · 11/12/2018 17:28

If she's skittish, can't they just shoo her out when she comes in if they don't want her?

Suziepoozie · 11/12/2018 17:28

She isn’t really bothered by being sprayed with water annoyingly otherwise I would definitely do that. Think they accept deliveries through the door so not sure if fly curtain would work but will suggest, thank you!

She’s skittish but an attention whore, idk how it works either!

I think the trouble is they let her rule the roost for a week and now they want her to leave, I don’t even know if they’ve tried shooing her properly because of the biting. One moment they were sort of fine about her being in there but could I please take her, the next theyre threatening animal control. Just a bit worried really.

I think you're going to have to just keep her in for a bit, break the habit.

I’ve locked the cat flap already so hopefully a few days inside and she’ll get the message
