to be an Estate agent

Obviously I wouldn't be being unreasonable but posting for traffic.....I want a new career after being self employed for 15 years whilst raising the kids. I'd love to do something in property, obviously estate agent springs to mind but Ive heard this is more about hitting targets than being passionate about property. Has anyone got an interesting job in property/housing?
I'm happy to get any qualifications needed, was thinking maybe doing a domestic energy assessor course and offering EPCs, floor plans and property photography (used to be a pro photographer)....any ideas clever mumsnetters? I'm 40 and need to get a wiggle on! 😉

Or are there any estate agents about that can tell me what the job is really like? 👍

When we were landlords the new big offering was a self employed someone who would do the inspections and send photos/videos.

If we did it again I’d employ someone like that direct as I ended up doing all the leg work managing the property anyway

Thanks gemmefatale...I'll look into that 👍☺

I work in homelessness reduction but my background was property management/leggings compliance.
Estate agency is usually very poorly paid basic and making a decent amount hinges on commission, so it can be precarious if you have a few months where deals fall through etc.
Property management is ok pay depending on where you are in the country, can pick it up easily enough. I thought it was pissing awful tbh but I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing now without that background.

Lettings compliance!! Not leggings

I applied for a trainee homeless/housing role, sadly didn't get an interview but its something I'd love to do especially as I was homeless as a teenager.

I can’t thunk of a worse time to get into being an EA.

Huge fail in volume of sale, you are paid a shitty base and rely on commission. Which you won’t be earning as the volume of sales is dropping.

Think you might be right sushi 😕
