I want to get a gift for a relative. I know he mentioned this last time I saw him but don’t see him regularly to try to find more ideas out, I don’t drink at all so don’t know what this is??

Lager from eastern europe Confused

ChristmassyContessaConSparkles · 11/12/2018 14:37

I feel like the clue is in the name tbh!!

Think of an Eastern European country.

Buy some lager from it (Google if necessary).

Job's a good 'un.

PinkHeart5914 · 11/12/2018 14:38

Well it’s lager from Eastern Europe. I think you may find google of use

aibutohavethisusername · 11/12/2018 14:39

Staropramen is Czech if that helps.

PavlovianLunge · 11/12/2018 14:39

Czech Republic and Slovakia both produce very good beers; pilsner lager, rather than ale or bitter. Whether they’re Eastern European countries is debatable; the Czechs and Slovaks seem to see themselves as being in Central Europe. That said, I can’t think that there is much of a market for beer from Belarus or Moldova, so I’d go for something Czech or Slovakian. 🍺

Get him a 6pk of zubr

Yellowbutterfly1 · 11/12/2018 14:42

Go into your local 'Polish' shop if you have one. They will have a large selection although Tesco etc also do the most popular brands.
My husband really likes Polish beer/larger.

waxy1 · 11/12/2018 14:43

I think it’s pivo.

bsc · 11/12/2018 14:45

Haha at pivo!
Stapromen or budvar are good.

IWouldPreferNotTo · 11/12/2018 14:45

Żubr, Żywiec and Tyskie can all be found in your local Polish shop and probably Tesco. Depending where you live they might also be in your local off licence

Justyou · 11/12/2018 14:46

Thank you all, yes I know the clue is in the name but I dont drink so didn’t know if there were actually popular ones. I do think online shopping and that didn’t help me with any suggestions.
I also did google it but didn’t get much joy.

Tyskie seems very popular round here with the sort of person who drinks at railway during daytimes, although that’s not necessarily any sort of recommendation for a quality lager.
