Anxiety success stories - hand hold please

Shamelessly posting here for traffic

I have suffered with anxiety on and off for years. I’m feeling extremely anxious and pretty hopeless at the moment. Mainly anxious about work - feel like I’m spinning to many plates, and cocking things up left right and centre. Can’t sleep, can’t concentrate, ratty with my family. Basically just want to disappear right now.

Trying to get an appt with a therapist but all the ones that seem appropriate have long waiting lists even privately.

Anyhow... I would love to hear from people who have learned to manage there anxiety and what worked for you. I just need a handhold and a bit of positively to try and pull myself out of this murky depressing headspace, and to muster the energy to tackle this

Headspace app? It’s free and is quite good. I have had Accupuncture in the past when mine was really bad . Now I’m just taking a low dose of antidepressants. Exercise - I walk our dog daily and that makes me feel good.

Oh and I don’t yet feel like it’s gone I can’t imagine it ever will! Wish I didn’t have to take tablets to feel normal!

I had terrible anxiety many years ago as a student. I thought I had gone mad and was very scared. There was no internet back then.

I am pretty much 98 per cent better and have been for years. For me it was very much a need to de-junk my life. Nowadays I would basically take very good probiotic, gluten and reduce sugar and alcohol. A decent omega 3 fish oil supplement. Check vitamin D and B 12 and thyroid levels with GP. See a good nutritionist if you can afford it. If not, follow a plan liked Perfect Health Diet (all free online)

In my opinion, anxiety is a mental manifestation of a physical problem in the body and should be treated as such. CBT did fuck all for me

Much sympathy, OP: I have anxiety and it can be terrifying and debilitating.

I self-referred for a (free) six-week CBT course through IAPT. Worth a Google to see if there is such a service in your area? It helped me loads.

I've just started CBD oil for another condition and I think it has helped my anxiety-related insomnia.

Cognitive behavioural therapy finally cured me. I did have a relapse after the first lot of therapy but I've been fine since the second lot about 9 years ago. It just shifted something in me, I'm not even sure what but touch wood it’s behind me. I know it's just awful though. Seeking help is the best thing you can do. Wishing you lots of luck that you manage to get to a better place.
