So I'm just in the house and suddenly my heart starts skipping beats and racing,I start sweating and my hands are shaking and legs are weak.
I started to panic and then lay on sofa and after 5 mins I cooled down and stopped shaking and my heart calmed down.
What's gone on?

Panic attack? Do you have anxiety?

pinkyy · 11/12/2018 12:23

Unfortunately I do have an anxiety disorder yes but normally I just get that way when I'm outside /going somewhere

That sounds like a classic panic attack to me. Very scary but it won't kill you as my doctor always tells me!

Birdie6 · 11/12/2018 12:24

Either a panic attack , or you had an episode of atrial fibrillation. Read about it here www.mydr.com.au/heart-stroke/atrial-fibrillation

octoberbaby2010 · 11/12/2018 12:27

If your experiencing a panic attack take deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth!! - best advise ever given to me when I suffered panic attacks!!
How are you feeling now? Have you someone with you? Xx

Veganfortheanimals · 11/12/2018 12:29

I get that too. ..panic ..it's not nice ..deep breaths and a lay down help x

AndSheWas85 · 11/12/2018 12:30

Sounds like a classic panic attack, very scary when you are going through it. Might be worth mentioning it to your GP next time you see them, they would be able to help/advise.
Hope you're feeling better now Smile

pinkyy · 11/12/2018 12:32

I'm fine now.
It's horrible.
I've been worried sick the last week for no reason.

It sounds exactly like a panic attack to me Flowers

jessstan2 · 11/12/2018 12:47

Empathise with you.
Deep breaths.

Blooger · 11/12/2018 12:53

Could be a panic attack or a reaction to something you have eaten or drunk. I get this if I have too much caffeine, including in chocolate. In the past I have mistaken it for a panic attack or impending heart attack! But a health practitioner suggested I go without caffeine and these episodes promptly stopped.

Kikidelight · 11/12/2018 12:59

Sounds very much like panic attacks. I used to suffer from them very badly; I couldn't leave the house for 6 months. They can be absolutely terrifying. Take the advice about deep breathing on board. Mediation/ self hypnosis can really help too.

bertielab · 11/12/2018 13:00

Phone your GP.

Are you on any medication?

I wouldn't ignore it.
If you can't get an appointment -mention to the receptionist that it is due to a heart beat. Could be a panic attack but you need to investigate this OP pronto -please.

pinkyy · 11/12/2018 13:02

This has been happening years for me but scared me as I was in the house.
I've only recently had heart scans etc and they came back my heart is healthy.
Some weeks I feel better and happier then others I'm full of anxiety and this keeps going .
I'm now scared I have atrial fibrillation

Since last Thursday I've also had a horrible knot in my stomach as if something bad was about to happen ..I just didn't know what it was.

Kikidelight · 11/12/2018 13:06

Because you suffer from anxiety, this can make you overthink things. You've had your heart checked and it was ok. I became almost obsessed with my health, during my worst anxiety, and convinced myself I had a serious illness. I hadn't. Pleas see your GP ASAP, this will ease your anxiety.

Kikidelight · 11/12/2018 13:08

The knot in the tummy, or feeling of impending doom, is a classic sign of anxiety. I know it is awful. It is your body's reaction to your anxiety.

pinkyy · 11/12/2018 14:57

Anxiety is a bitch.
I've heard good things about cbd oil
I might try it

Loopylou6 · 11/12/2018 15:20

I know exactly how you feel op, right down to that knot in the stomach. I've been exactly like this for a while now, infact, I just started medication yesterday.
